icddr,b is conducting a study to evaluation performance of different diagnostic kits for vector borne and parasitic diseases from clinical samples which will be coming from different field sites both in Dhaka and Chittagong Hill Tracts.
The Research Officer reporting to the Scientist of the Enteric and Respiratory Infections under the Infectious Diseases Division will be mainly responsible for Planning, organizing and implementing laboratory assays to conduct high-quality laboratory research. The major jobs include-
- Perform sample processing, DNA Extraction, PCR, and PCR-RFLP from the clinical samples;
- Assess material requirements for specific lab tests, Monitor and track consumption of resources;
- Train new team members and lab technician on research specific lab works (sample storage, sample separation, basic lab tests and transportation of study sample to icddr,b, main lab); monitor tests done by new team members;
- Assist in developing concept notes, preparing reports for collaborators and sponsors;
- Perform analysis for PCR, and PCR-RFLP assays; Draft manuscripts and provide inputs in scientific analysis;
- Learn and acquire latest knowledge on different tests and procedures; Ensure quality by providing training to the new/junior staff on quality processes and check adherence to quality assurance processes from collection to reception.
Required qualification and experience:
- M Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Zoology from any reputed University;
- 03 years of experience in relevant laboratory research. Previous experience in malaria /dengue research and laboratory experiences like-DNA extraction, PCR, Sample processing etc. will get preference.
Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka
Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be approximately 04 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk.57,048/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
