The Resource Mobilization (RM) and Partnerships team is one of the three functional teams within the External Relations Unit covering regional RM and Partnerships, Advocacy, and Communications, at UN Women’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UN Women ROAP). The RM and Partnerships team focuses on establishing partnerships with a particular emphasis on government donors, while including private sector and non-traditional partners, and supporting, strengthening and building the capacity of regional teams, country offices and programme presences with their resource mobilization and donor engagement efforts.
The RM and Partnerships team is responsible for supporting and strengthening resource mobilization efforts of others (country offices, regional teams), and directly mobilizing resources to advance UN Women’s mandate in the Asia and the Pacific region.
The consultant will report to the Head of External Relations, who will be supported by the Partnerships and Administrative Assistant who will be point of contact on the contract and payment issues. The consultant supervises the RM and Partnerships Research and Engagement UN Volunteer.
The hiring manager may consider candidates to work part-time (50%) or full time and invites applicants to indicate their preference of 50% time or full time in the cover letter.
Description of Responsibilities/Scope of Work
The scope of work includes supporting the government/public sector partners portfolio; coordinating donor intelligence and briefing packages; coordinating RM capacity building efforts of country offices and regional teams; managing the RM and Partnerships Regional Community of Practice; and supporting the Head of External Relations with UN Women planning processes, and the budget and administrative management of the External Relations Unit.
The consultant plays a key role in strengthening the capacity of other UN Women personnel in the Asia and the Pacific region to pursue funding opportunities through government partners as well as supporting nurturing existing relationships. The consultant will document and support knowledge management on best practice engagement with government partners and coordinate the Regional Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Community of Practice, which may include training, webinars and other resources. They will coordinate delivery of capacity building and direct support to increase resources mobilized from governments in high needs offices and thematic areas of work across Asia and the Pacific. The consultant will improve coordination of resource mobilization activities in the Asia and the Pacific region, and facilitate As and when required, the consultant will serve as regional focal point for select government partners.
The consultant is expected to work equally well autonomously and as a creative, collaborative member of the RM and Partnerships team within the External Relations Unit.

This is an office-based consultancy, working out of UN Women Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok. Representation at in-person meetings and networking events is expected in Bangkok, with potential for periodic, short business trips more broadly in the Asia and the Pacific region.
