The Opportunity

Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Resourcing Manager in Centre –London, UK or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide

ROLE PURPOSE:

This role sits within the Transformation Delivery Portfolio Management Office. The resource manager will take the lead in defining and implementing a standard process supported by required tooling; guiding teams from the Business as well as Projects including project managers and IT leads with the planning and allocating of IT and BA resources needed to deliver on requirements; determine the portfolio’s demand for resources and ensure its capacity to meet staffing needs of projects; support the assignment of resources to a project’s tasks; participate in the hiring process; ensure alignment between resource forecasts and budget; and work closely with Finance Business Partners in regular financial control of forecasted demand costs.

This will be a critical role to ensure we effectively manage resource and anticipate resourcing issues ahead of these becoming a reality and disrupting or delaying initiatives from progressing. This is also critical to ensure that resources are allocated to the highest priority work where demand exceeds capacity.

The role holder will need to be analytical and able to step into the detail, have a good understanding of IT and BA resourcing to pressure test resource estimates and engage Project, IT and Business Leadership to effectively manage required communications and where necessary difficult messages where work cannot be completed within the proposed timelines.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Previous experience as a resource manager
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Critical thinking, analytical and forecasting skills, and the ability to relay outcome focused information to key senior stakeholders to ensure informed decision making
  • Ability to adopt a pro-active approach to problem solving working closely with both the senior colleagues as required and offering solutions as appropriate
  • Flexibility and good decision-making skills
  • Managerial and time-management skills
  • Interpersonal interaction skills – effective communication (written and oral English), negotiation, collaboration, the ability to be diplomatic and stand one’s ground and the ability to present to all levels of the organisation
  • Understanding of project and portfolio level planning
  • Proficient demonstrable skills in managing and reporting resource requirements across a portfolio and cross departments
  • Understanding of budget management and the impact resourcing has in this space
  • Ability to resolve issues swiftly and decisively whilst safeguarding standards and procedures
  • Strong influencing abilities with the ability to motivate and mobilise individuals outside their reporting line
  • Managerial and time-management skills
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to understand and define resourcing processes and associated requirements and dive into the detail of complex resourcing scope
  • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally
  • Self- motivated and ability to work autonomously
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children

Desirable

  • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
  • Knowledge of IT skillsets
  • Second language from one of Save the Children’s core languages (French, Spanish and Arabic)

We can offer circa £58,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.

This role can be based in any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
