ABOUT THE JOB

The RE Assistant will support the on-going DRC Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) projects in Afghanistan. S/he will be based in Kabul CO with travel to operational areas, when required. EORE Assistant will assist the EORE department in the below tasks in order to achieve the project objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with procurement process and procurement plan updates and follow-up with procurement department, RE projects focal points, and area offices.
  • Provide assistance with DRC documents and correspondence drafting, translation, and interpretation as needed.
  • Participate in data collection, analysis, and maintenance of EORE-related databases and prepare the proper filling system for all the EORE documents.
  • Cross-check the data received from the field for any inconsistencies with the data collection tools such as Kobo and DRC databases.
  • Be responsible for the shipment of RE material to the project sites as per need and keep a record of the RE material.
  • Maintain regular communication with the RE Officers/Team Leaders on day-to-day activities, such as data collection, project targets, and RE material to ensure the implementation of smooth operation.
  • Participate in project activities (meetings, training, workshops, other public activities) preparation, implementation, and follow-up, take meeting minutes.
  • Create and maintain a database of contacts with governmental and non-governmental institutions, local authorities, NGOs, academia, etc.
  • Assist in EORE materials development and improvement, including, but not limited to drafting PowerPoint presentations.
  • Assistance with document preparation and collection, including close liaison with the field offices.
  • Contribute to the annual and detailed implementation work plans and reports prepared in a timely and quality manner based on the requirements.
  • Regularly review the RE progress and pre/post assessments to ensure the achievement is as per the RE quarterly plan and ensure the teams are reporting in line with requirements.
  • Closely work with the MEAL department on sharing the field assessment data, pre-post data, beneficiaries’ data, and other required data and provide assistance on data analysis.
  • Collecting and compiling weekly reports from the fields and timely submitting them to the PI & RE Coordinator
  • Assistance with the recruitment processes and follow-up on recruitments with the HR department and RE projects focal points.
  • Assistance with any other task related to the successful operation of the DRC program in Afghanistan.
  • The RE Assistant is assigned as the Gender Focal Point for the Mine Action projects and will be leading the following tasks:
    • Preparing the quarterly reports in close coordination with the project focal points and submitting them to DMAC.
    • Attending gender-related meetings, workshops, and training.
    • Review internal policies and documents to ensure they are gender sensitive.
    • Providing G&D training to staff to increase their knowledge and understanding of G&D in Mine Action.
  • Communicating with DMAC on G&D-related issues on a regular basis.

Key Deliverables:

  • Follow up on EORE teams’ reports, pre/post forms, and any other reports to make sure the data is collected in line with the project requirement.
  • Provide assistance with DRC documents and correspondence drafting, translation, and interpretation as needed.
  • Designing database in Excel for EORE data collection.
  • Close coordination & collaboration with the EORE staff within the office & other regions on day-to-day activities to ensure the implementation of smooth operations.
  • Raising Purchase Requests (PR) for all EORE projects based on the procurement plan and following up for timely delivery of the requests.

  • Contract length: till 31st of December 2023 with the possibility of extension.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Bachelor degree from a recognized institute.

Education/qualifications:

  • Holding bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is required.
  • Demonstrated Communication skills & ability to work effectively under time constraints & take initiatives Advanced Excel, and PowerPoint, (the person should be able to prepare required databases in Excel and PPT in PowerPoint)

Languages:

  • Fluency in speaking & writing in the national language (Dari & Pashto) & English is required.
