The Corporate Risk Management Department (CRM), under the Corporate Risk & Financial Sustainability Vice-Presidency, provides corporate-wide portfolio and risk oversight of IFC’s debt, equity, and treasury portfolios, as well as managing IFC’s overall capital position and financial sustainability. Within CRM, Treasury Risk Team (CRMTR) is responsible for providing risk oversight of IFC’s Treasury activities. This includes, but is not limited to, measuring, managing, and monitoring market, credit, and liquidity risks in IFC’s portfolio. 

CRMTR is conducting a search for a Risk Officer to join an international dynamic team in support of Local Currency Risk functions. 

Duties and Accountabilities:

His/her responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

•  Evaluate funding and hedging transaction proposals to ensure that market and credit risks arising from such proposals comply with policy requirements and governance requirements, assess, and quantify the market and credit risks arising from the transaction, ensure transactions are properly priced and capitalized, propose ways to mitigate market and credit risks to the extent possible.
•  Work with colleagues to develop and agree on policy framework and monitoring mechanisms to manage market and credit risks arising from local currency funding and hedging activities. this includes drafting, implementing, and updating frameworks.
•  Conduct a thorough assessment of current local currency financing arrangements.
•  Prepare memos, procedures, and frameworks for presentation to senior management and Risk Committees.
•  Act as main CRMTR counterpart (go-to contact) for Treasury Client Solutions colleagues for all Local Currency related topics.
•  Participate in Working groups to scale up and expand local currency lending.
•  Conduct market intelligence of local and international debt capital markets
•  Contribute to Murex project and other technology related project.
•  Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiencies of core team responsibilities through automation and data visualization.
•  Bring expertise for cross-team synergies within the CRM department.
•  Provide training and knowledge management services to colleagues.
•  Mentor more junior colleagues and provide training and knowledge sharing opportunities within the team.

 

Selection Criteria

•  Master’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, or mathematics with strong technical background with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Experience in financial risk management, treasury and/or trading gained in a multilateral, public and/or private organization is a distinct advantage. Experience in emerging markets is a plus.
•  Experience in finance, fixed income, derivatives, valuation, capital adequacy and/or default modeling within an investment bank, rating agency, or other financial institution.
•  Understanding of market risk and credit risk measurement techniques.
•  Experience in designing, drafting, and implementing risk frameworks is a plus.
•  Experience in financial and business intelligence software such as Summit, Murex, Numerix, Bloomberg or Reuters is desired.
•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in financial modelling and forecasting is highly desirable.
•  Proficient in common Microsoft Office applications.
•  Demonstrated ability to undertake diverse tasks within rapidly changing and demanding environment on short deadlines.
•  Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries and to function effectively both as a team lead, a member of a team and individually as required.
•  Self-starter with high level of initiative, strong interpersonal skills, high attention to detail and resourcefulness.
•  Ability to apply a practical approach that produce high quality results.
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills across the board and across all hierarchies. Distinct ability to present technical issues in simple and straightforward terms.
•  Commitment to maintain the highest ethical standards.
•  People management skills
