Hours: 35 per week (typically Mon – Fri)
Salary: Up to £28,450 per annum (plus Inner London Weighting, if applicable)

Are you a French speaking international humanitarian or international development professional, who could provide an essential information link between our British Red Cross UK Head Office in London and the Sahel Region team?

In this key post you will ensure that the Head of Region for West and Central Africa, the Country Managers for Sahel, and the Programme managers are effectively resourced from UK Head Office in delivering Regional and Country Strategies respectively.

Reporting to the Country Manager for Sahel, you will lead projects and services, providing effec tive coordination and mobilisation of resources in our BRC UK Head Office to support the delivery of regional and country strategies. You will represent the regional team at internal and external meetings, conferences and other public engagements as required by Head of Region or Country Managers.

In this exciting role, you will facilitate engagement and information flow to the regional team, support with monitoring and reporting, relationships and engagement across key internal and external stakeholders (including Fundraising and Communications) and support regional partnerships within Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and Chad.

The International Division is responsible for international disaster response, support to resilience programmes and organisational development of our partner Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The work of the Inte rnational Division also includes humanitarian policy and advocacy activities, and International Humanitarian Law. British Red Cross’ international work is carried out in coordination and partnership with the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.

The Programmes and Partnerships department provides single oversight of our community resilience and capacity building partnerships with national societies and disaster management activities. The department works in partnership with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The department functions internally within a matrix relationship of technical advisers and policy professionals, located in other teams within the International Division.

Is this the opportunity for you?

With an excellent understanding of the West and Centra l Africa regional context (socially and politically) and the wider international humanitarian system, you will have knowledge of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and experience of working in international disaster response or development, working with remote teams.

You will be fluent in French, have excellent written and verbal communication skills including facilitation, presentation and report writing (preferably of drafting and compiling programme documents including proposals, donor proposals and reports) to a variety of audiences.

You will have experience of stakeholder management and partnership or collaborative working across multiple teams, with the ability to influence key internal or external partners, Trusts, Foundations and other donors.

You will have great administrative, project/ programme management and IT skills, including all basic MS office packages including maintenance of spreadsheets and financial data bases or systems accurately.
