Senegal: Internship for Proposal Writing

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Provide support on coordination tasks where required, such as organizing meetings with business development partners and providing summary after meetings
  • Conduct business analysis to support the business development
  • Assists with the creation of compliant, compelling responses for assigned proposal sections/ topics and recommend creative ideations of associated graphics, charts, tables, appendices, and other information in support of proposal development
  • Under close manager supervision, cross-references solicitation documents (RFPs, RFIs, etc.) to create organized writing outlines that are responsive to requirements
  • Assist team with presenting outlines in storyboarding sessions
  • Assist in submitting complete written proposal responses within tight deadlines
  • Incorporates feedback from reviewers to improve drafts
  • Help prepare for technical expert and operational resources interviews to gather information supporting proposal development and transforms that information into clear, concise, compelling proposal text
  • Applies win themes and strategic messaging in proposal content drafts
  • Collaborates with Business Development team members to understand market positioning, competition, capabilities, client drivers, and solution components
  • Identifies and reworks existing proposal content for use in active bids
  • Supports the maintenance of a writing team content library
  • Interacts with senior-level internal and external personnel
  • Uses SharePoint collaborative platform to upload materials
  • Serves as an editor for other writers as needed
  • Recommends continuous improvement initiatives to refine writing processes and techniques as appropriate
  • Collaborates with graphic artists to conceptualize visuals (diagrams, workflows, icons, etc.) to accompany writing
  • Assisting in industry research projects and preparing business analysis reports
  • Tracking market trends and identifying potential investment opportunities
  • Assisting in business due diligence, etc.
  • Perform other tasks assigned from time to time by GGGI.
SENEGAL COUNTRY PROGRAM: PROPOSAL WRITING INTERNSHIP

Based in Seoul, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as “green growth”, which targets key aspects of economic performance such a poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sector to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change. GGGI supports stakeholders through complementary and integrated workstreams that deliver comprehensive products designed to assist in developing, financing, and mainstreaming green growth in national economic development plans.

Senegal has become member of Global Green Growth Institute since November 2014. Confirming the needs to set its development trajectory toward an inclusive and sustainable green growth. To support the implementation of GGGI operations in Senegal, a five-year Cooperation Framework (CF) document was jointly endorsed in 2016 by the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development and the Resident Representative. It covers three strategic representations: (i) Sustainable urban development; (ii) Sustainable development of territories; and (iii) Governance of Green Growth.

The cooperation between GGGI and Senegal will provide solutions to energy, water and sanitation, transport, waste management, land use and climate sustainability, and waste management, as well as land use and climate sustainability issues, and on the other hand to support the institutionalization of green governance and the development of green financial mechanisms financial mechanisms.

The objective of the internship is to give you a first-hand experience of the day-to-day working at GGGI. The Internship Program is a project-oriented learning opportunity for graduate students to gain experience through research assignments based on GGGI’s current operational needs. GGGI welcomes motivated, open-minded, and self-directed individuals to apply. You will be given an opportunity to work directly with outstanding and inspiring Green Growth professionals, participate in workshops and meetings, and contribute to analytical work as well as innovative rethinking on sustainable green growth. Interns will be selected based on merit and cannot be children or siblings of current GGGI staff members.

Can you be a GGGI intern?
  • Are you enrolled in a master’s or in a Ph.D. program, or in the final year of a Bachelors program?
  • Have you completed Bachelor’s, Masters or PHD Degree in the last 12 months?
  • Are you between a first degree and graduate school (gap year)?
  • Do you have excellent command of English?
Things to keep in mind for interns
  • Duration: The internship program lasts for six months.
  • Reporting: Position reporting to GGGI’s Results Reporting Officer.
  • Cost: GGGI interns are paid USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
  • Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
  • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
  • Medical insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI.
  • Confidentiality: Interns must be discreet and keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
  • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Recent graduate in a Bachelor’s or Master’s- or enrolled in a PhD-level program in economics, development economics, Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • Proven computer literate in standard office software applications skills, ability to quickly master other software
  • Strong analytical skills, with a drive for data analysis, modelling and interpretation
  • Excellent English communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in the field of financial modeling or economic statistics
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Skilled in standard computer applications and platforms such as Outlook and MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
