The Global Science, Systems and Services Practice has the goal of promoting, and accelerating sustainable, transformative actions and equitable, innovative solutions that maximize access to HIV services and sustain efficient HIV responses integrated into national systems for health, social protection, humanitarian settings and pandemic responses. It achieves these by: 1) using innovation for prevention, treatment and pediatrics, which covers the HIV treatment-prevention continuum and focuses on reaching the 95-95-95 target, 95% combination prevention targets and leaving no one behind; 2) forging productive partnerships with key global AIDS financing partners to ensure national leadership and ownership of AIDS response and maximization of investments, thus building the pathways for sustainability; and 3) integrating multisectoral approaches to HIV and health, and ensuring that community-led responses form part of national health systems and beyond.Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Reporting to the Head, Programme Innovation for Prevention, Treatment and Paediatrics, the Senior Advisor, Prevention, provides thematic leadership and oversight towards scaling up of combination HIV prevention programmes for key and priority populations.

He / she has the following key responsibilities:

1. Thematic leadership, policy guidance, HIV programming and implementation

Ensures effective focus of combination prevention programming at global, regional and country level among the five key populations (KP), Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), and Men and Boys (M&B).

Collaborates with colleagues and teams across the practice(s) on promoting approaches to scaling up access to combination HIV prevention services for key and priority populations.

Leads on developing and disseminating guidance on policy, innovation and evidence-based programming with a specific focus on combination prevention and harm reduction packages for key populations and differentiated layered combination prevention packages for priority populations in high incidence settings.

Provides thematic leadership and oversight on the scale up of ARV based prevention at field level, including Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), Treatment as prevention and post exposure prophylaxis (PEP)

Serves as the organizational thematic lead on mobilizing and ensuring effective use of resources for combination HIV prevention among key and priority populations, with a particular focus on providing quality assurance oversight to concept notes, proposals, strategic initiatives, and technical and implementation support activities in this area.

Knowledge management: Convenes the organizational gathering and sharing of new developments, country experiences, good practices and lessons learned on combination prevention for key and priority populations.

2. Advocacy and collaboration

Provides leadership in global advocacy for the rapid introduction of effective innovations for HIV prevention, such as long-acting PrEP technologies, self-testing, virtual interventions, and other transformative programmatic approaches.

In collaboration with cosponsors and other key stakeholders convenes or, as appropriate contributes to the convening of, relevant global and regional coalitions, working groups, technical meetings and other fora for accelerating HIV prevention among key and priority populations.

Serves as the thematic focal point for UN interagency collaboration and corporate-wide processes such as the planning and implementation of the Unified Budget, Results and Accountability (UBRAF).

Supervises staff as per the Practice’s organization chart. Performs other duties as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree at Master’s level in public health, public policy, medicine, epidemiology, social and behavioral change, communication, or another area related to the duties and responsibilities. For internal candidates only, a relevant first university degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience will be considered as equivalent.Competencies:

Exercising Sound JudgementExperience:
Essential: At least 10 years of experience at the international level in public health promotion, including HIV. Extensive experience in the design, country implementation and evaluation of HIV prevention programmes including for key populations and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW). Experience in the coordination of workplans, projects and multi-disciplinary teams.

Desirable: Experience with UN System policies, procedures and operations.Languages:
Essential: Proficiency in English.

Desirable: Knowledge of additional UN official languages.Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization’s Mobility Policy. The abovementioned position is a rotational position and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

In addition to the salary, the post adjustment for Geneva applies.

US$ 92,731 at single ratePost Adjustment: 81 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
