Job Description:
This position will work across the World Vision Partnership to shape and deliver a social mobilisation strategy that engages the public, children, partners and community members to drive courageous local to global action. This mobilisation approach, with and for children, targets policy change in support of the global campaign ENOUGH and positions World Vision as an influential voice for children’s rights in the post-2030 Agenda. The post-holder will support a shift to convening and catalysing a broad range of voices, especially children, to influence decision-makers.
This position will consider local applicants and may be based in any country where WVI has a registered office.
Critical to the success of this position will be the ability to:
- Set an ambitious social mobilisation approach that mobilises children, communities and citizens to influence policy change, drawing on World Vision’s powerful local to global advocacy network and model, in support of the Partnership’s external influencing agenda.
- Project manage strong mobilisation and public engagement resources and actions, involving over 70 offices that can engage millions, online and offline, from local to global levels
- Cultivate and leverage strong internal and external network, across Advocacy and External Engagement, with Marketing & Communications to mobilise Support and Field Offices behind the global campaign, supporting national and regional level staff to organise impactful mobilisations
- Deliver creative projects that advance World Vision’s ENOUGH campaign, employing digital and innovative organising approaches, reaching new audiences, strengthening the engagement of existing supporters.
Key Activities
Shape impactful social mobilization approaches based on World Vision’s local-to-global advocacy model and best practice (20%)
- With the Senior Director and other stakeholders, shape World Vision’s global social mobilisation approach to influence policy change with and for children.
- Develop powerful models for social mobilisation, leveraging World Vision’s local-to-global approach, drawing on best external practice and internal successes from local, national and global level.
- Strengthen WV’s brand and thought leadership in social mobilisation with key stakeholder groups e.g. children and young people or faith communities.
- Scale up the use of emerging digital approaches for social mobilisation and organising
Leadership of global mobilisation and public engagement efforts to support advocacy objectives, including with external partners. (50%)
- Lead global social and popular mobilisation efforts that unite or amplify national-level influencing, that work across multiple contexts.
- Devise resources to support and drive national-level mobilisation efforts in alignment with campaign priorities, tailored to fit multiple contexts
- Create and curate mobilisation content including citizen actions for use at national and global level
- Engage with external partners to increase the sustainability and reach of mobilisation efforts and to align with citizen and child-led social movements
- Co-create and integrate campaign content and actions into marketing and communications external messaging and products, including supporter retention, acquisition and journeys
Cultivate and leverage internal networks and best practice to deliver advocacy objectives 30%
- Maintain and strengthen existing internal networks (Support Offices, Field Offices, Global Centre) to deliver social mobilisation impact
- Capture and scale up good practice within and across World Vision’s Partnership, particularly between Field and Support Offices or regions.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications teams to engage the public on Advocacy & External Engagement priority issues and moments
- Support internal reporting and communications to increase the understanding of and contribution of social mobilisation to the achievement of WV priorities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
- At least ten (10) years of successful relevant professional experience including campaigning, communications, public engagement, social mobilisation and social change processes in multiple contexts
- Bachelor’s or Masters university degree (in any subject)
- Exceptional project and stakeholder management skills
- Experience of working in a complex international and cross-cultural environment
- Experience with online campaigning and mobilisation
- Understanding of policy and advocacy change processes
- Creative communications/writing experience
- Ability /experience in influencing people to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
