The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) – Data & Information Solutions Department (DIS) – Data Management Division (DM) – Analytics & Reporting Solutions Unit (A&R) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Analytics Solution Officer*.

This is a full-time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

You want to be part of our data analytics lab to build the future using cutting-edge analytics tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau and Plotly. We are looking for excellent team spirit, proactive attitude, as well as a passion for data analytics. As a member of our lab, you will have the opportunity to promote the latest advancements in the data analytics industry and build solutions across various business domains. You will also work with a diverse and talented team of IT engineers and analysts who share the same passion and enthusiasm.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of Unit and work in close cooperation with other IT units and counterparts from all directorates using data analytics services and solutions. There will be a lot of interaction with key stakeholders such as software vendors, providers of outsourced services, peer groups, consultants to optimise service levels and stay abreast of best practice.

Accountabilities

  • Analyse business specifications and build analytics solutions in line with the business needs and IT standards
  • Establish a governance framework with the user community to ensure an effective use of the analytics tools within the organisation. Monitor its applicability and propose improvements to maximize the value derived from the analytics tools
  • Ensure the analytics software tools are implemented and maintained in accordance with the IT policies, and that qualitative and quantitative objectives are achieved
  • Take project management responsibilities for assigned IT projects by ensuring the completion of projects within the set schedule, budget, and quality objectives
  • Make proposals to build solutions showing information clearly and efficiently, presenting to end-users actionable and useful information at a glance and ultimately transforming data into meaningful insights

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Information Technology, Mathematics, Finance or related fields
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the design, development, and maintenance of data analytics platforms such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau and/or Plotly
  • Practical experience in building solutions using platforms such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau and/or Plotly
  • Experience in Data Warehouse design and methodologies
  • Good knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices
  • Familiarity with banking and financial data structures, as well as an understanding of regulatory requirements and challenges within the industry would be an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
