ICRISAT seeks applications for the position “Senior Associate – Fitter & Welder” for ASIA, Farm and Engineering Services. To carry out welding of components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc and other advanced welding equipment. To determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. To analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To carry out fabrication workshop jobs independently by applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques in workshop and field both.
• To operate welding sets, radial drill, shearing machines, bending machines, power saws, hydraulic press and grinding machine etc., for performing specific operations and jobs.
• Undertake development and modification jobs on lab and housing equipment and fixtures including automobiles, buses, farm and heavy machinery, implements, scientific equipment, etc. to meet specific needs of the farm researchers.
• Provide a creative and optimum approach to perform repairing activities with a proper understanding of technicalities, safety procedures and quality standards.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
• Exchange technical knowledge among the team for enhancing skills and simplify repair activities.
• Should demonstrate very good team spirit, client orientation and fulfill all the commitments.
• Engage with inter-disciplinary teams in multi-cultural environment.
• Fulfill all commitments on time with the high-quality delivery/standards.
• Taking technical initiatives to simplify the fabrication process and focus on cost & time-effective techniques.
• Prepare the inventory of consumables to ensure the timely completion of repair services.
• Should display initiative to be available beyond normal working hours / off days, as and when required.

Requirement:

• ITI in Fitter/welder.
• A minimum 5 years of relevant experience in fabrication of structures and equipment’s.
• Sound knowledge on welding and cutting processes.
• Knowledge of Fabrication Workshop best practices and safety procedure.
• Possessing a valid RTA license (2 wheelers and LMV).
• Should be able to speak (Telugu, Hindi, and English) & read / write simple English.

General:

This is a contractual role for a period of 36 months (3 years).
