The Senior Associate, Public Affairs and Engagement will provide cross-cutting support to flagship events, campaigns and projects that support core funding to UN Foundation. This will include supporting UNF’s annual gala “We the Peoples” planning, liaising with funding partners to coordinate campaign support e.g. the #EqualEverywhere Campaign, supporting the mechanics and logistics of a series of 25th anniversary celebrations and other engagement platforms such as roundtables with corporate and HNWI leaders. Additionally, the Senior Associate, Public Affairs and Engagement will support existing partnerships, including through coordination with partners and in the drafting of talking points, meetings, correspondence, contracts, and reporting. This position will require a level of independent thinking and the ability to partner effectively with managers for guidance while sustaining multiple streams of work.
This position is based in New York, NY or Washington, DC (hybrid schedule).
Essential Functions
- Provide support for engagement opportunities and partnerships for corporate and HNWI donors and prospects.
- We the Peoples Annual Dinner
- Maintain timeline and tasks.
- Liaise with key stakeholders with guidance.
- Coordinate meetings including agendas and take aways.
- 25th Anniversary Celebrations
- With limited guidance, support the management and coordination of events including event concept notes, liaising with venue, RSVPs, and follow-up.
- On-the-ground support in Atlanta, Stockholm and other locations as determined.
- #EqualEverywhere
- Provide partnership support through regular communications with partners as instructed.
- Liaise with Girls & Women (G&W) team and Public Affairs (PA) colleagues on key deliverables.
- Track partners submissions.
- Track agreements and funds as received.
- Bespoke Partnership Requests
- Respond and help manage bespoke partnership engagements like events, briefings and roundtables.
- Assist in creating and stewarding strong relationships with partners.
- Track partner deliverables.
- Support relationship management including outreach to new partners, managing existing relationships, and identifying engagement opportunities for partners at key moments with guidance.
- Draft necessary reporting and reviews for partners on key initiatives.
- Draft proposals and concept notes.
- Role will require the ability to work cross-functionally and with senior leadership.
- Drafting and reviewing agreements and maintaining an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNF’s finance/contracts team as needed. (As applicable to the role)
- Attending training sessions provided by UNF’s contracts team to maintain and keep up to date with UNF’s current policies and procedures. (As applicable to the role)
- Maintain a strong knowledge of UNF’s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information and prepare reports. (As applicable to the role)
- Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3-4 years of related professional experience in supporting project management, partnerships, marketing or related field.
- Ability to support multiple complex projects simultaneously; work to deadlines with other team members with grace and effectiveness under pressure, and undertake independent problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communications skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and in coordination with multiple teams.
- A demonstrated knowledge of global issues and the UN human rights system, and an understanding of the UNF mission, programs, strategy and goals.
- Strong writing, editing, research, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to articulate ideas and opinions to a broad audience.
- Self-motivated, energetic individual with a willingness to learn quickly, and work in cross- cutting teams.
- Domestic and international travel required
- Ability to meet physical demands of job, including lifting up to 30lbs
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
