The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS), Baltic Sea and Northern Europe Department (BSNE), Corporates Division (2-CORP), Unit 1 at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Banker with German *.
This is a full-time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Please note that it is expected that after some time based in Luxembourg headquarters (minimum 1 year), the post will be allocated on a temporary basis to the EIB Berlin office for a period of max 6 years. The transfer will be implemented in line with the rules for the assignments to the external offices at that time. At the end of this period, the incumbent will be reintegrated within OPS/BSNE Department
As a (Senior) Banker, you will contribute to the development and execution of the business plan by identifying, appraising, negotiating, and monitoring of corporate lending operations in the German market, according to EIB policies and procedures and with the objective to contribute to EU Policy goals.
You will be expected to manage fully independently, supported by your manager, a portfolio of corporate clients and act as the Bank’s main point of contact for these customers. You will report to the Head of Division and collaborate with colleagues in the BSNE-2 Division, throughout OPS and in other Directorates. You will also collaborate with the Head of Berlin Office, if required and in line with your role. You are also expected to coach more junior team members and support the Division’s strategy work including definition of market /sector strategies and product development.

As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
