The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Risk & Compliance Directorate (GR&C), Group Financial Risk Department (GFIN) – Risk Data & Processes Division (RDP) – Data & Reporting Governance Unit (DRG), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Business Intelligence Reporting Officer *.

This is a full-time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

As (Senior) Business Intelligence Reporting Officer, you will drive the development and improvement of GR&C-RM’s risk reporting by creating/ improving complex BusinessObjects (BO) reports in order to provide the EIB Group decision makers with an appropriate understanding of the risks and their impact on the Group’s objectives.

Specific Post Environment

Within the Group & Risk Management Directorate – Risk Management (GR&C-RM), the primary role of the Data and Reporting Governance Unit is to manage data (data quality, new requirements etc) in alignment with Credit Risk Guidelines (CRGs), best banking practices and reporting needs, and to create credit risk related reports for risk reporting.

The Unit is the first line to deploy and ensure correct implementation of the reporting governance guidelines and associated framework issued by the Reporting Governance Office.

Operating Network

Reporting to the Head of the Data and Reporting Governance (DRG) in the Risk Data and Processes division within the Group Financial Risk Department, you will work in close cooperation with all GR&C-RM colleagues and other Directorates. You will collaborate with the Reporting Champion and colleagues in the team on Reporting Governance related topics.

Accountabilities

Reporting development

  • Develop and drive the improvement of GR&C-RM’s risk reporting by creating, maintaining and optimising complex BusinessObjects (BO) reports in line with the Group’s Reporting Governance guidelines.
  • Drive the integration and streamlining of the existing reports produced by the team.
  • Identify enhancements for the Unit’s deliverables and coordinate their implementation.
  • Act as an advisor for risk reporting officers on the relevant reporting and data governance matters.
  • Respond to ad-hoc and/or recurring complex demands including initiatives/policies related to the content of the post when needed.
  • Analyse the primary data collected from the Bank’s relevant applications (eg Serapis, etc.), calculate and interpret the variances, and advise the risk reporting colleagues accordingly so that the EIB decision makers can rely on sound, solid information.
  • Coordinate the Directorate’s contribution to reporting projects in the Risk Management area.
  • On behalf of GR&C-RM, participate in the alignment of data reporting and data management systems, and contribute to the development and implementation of the Group-wide corporate data and reporting governance action plan and strategy.

Reporting maintenance:

  • Analyse and assess the impact of new mandates/products on the Directorate’s reporting requirements, and advise the reporting officers in Risk Reporting team accordingly
  • Lead the non-regression of the reports under Unit’s responsibility when needed.
  • Coordinate the migration of the GR&C-RM reports within Data Warehouse projects
  • Manage the impact of the upstream changes on GR&C-RM reports and inform reporting officers accordingly

Knowledge sharing:

  • Keep up to date with market trends and developments with regards to own area
  • Establish and maintain a network: share knowledge with peers and provide guidance to colleagues in the execution of reporting-related activities
  • Play a leading/ expert role as a member of working groups on specific improvement projects which focus on Group-wide transversal reporting domains.
  • Contribute to the development of and implement reporting policies, standards, principles, projects, processes and solutions at Bank and Group level.

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in IT, Mathematics and/or Finance, or relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the field of Risk Management, Reporting or Information Technology of which at least 3 years in Business Intelligence reporting
  • In-depth knowledge of reporting tools in particular BusinessObjects
  • Proficiency in BusinessObjects reports metadata, SAP Central Management Console tool and SQL is an advantage
  • Understanding of finance and risk management
  • Strong ability of working with and interpreting very large data sets
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
