Senior Communication and Knowledge Sharing Associate

We are currently seeking a talented individual for the role of Communication and Knowledge Sharing Associate to join our Ethiopia Country Program. The selected candidate will contribute to efforts aimed at promoting the GGGI brand and effectively communicating our impact stories both internally and externally through creative and innovative approaches.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communication and Knowledge Sharing Associate is a vital member of the Ethiopia Country Program Operations Team and working across the program units both at the national and sub-national level. The Associate will also liaise with the Regional and Global Communication Teams who play a crucial role in elevating the organization’s profile by designing and disseminating relevant and impactful communication and knowledge products across various platforms, including social media. The Associate supports country-led, regional, and global events and initiatives, contributing to strategy formulation and implementation, and ensuring consistent adherence to GGGI’s brand, visibility, and communication guidelines.

PURPOSE
  • Develop, implement, and monitor audience-centric communications strategies and plans, for the GGGI Ethiopia country portfolio as well as specific projects.
  • Following GGGI global guidelines coordinate and manage country program publication including proofreading, designing, and assisting in publishing of GGGI reports and disseminating these.
  • Support the alignment with GGGI’s and donors’ communication guidelines, and ensure visual identity aligns with GGGI’s identity and message
  • Facilitate the external narrative of GGGI Ethiopia’s impacts and outcomes through diverse storytelling approaches, including blogs, vlogs, videos, podcasts, etc.
  • Manage the design, editing, printing, and project management of GGGI publications.
  • Research, adapt, and proficiently manage communication products for GGGI at the country level, optimizing the reach and resonance of the GGGI brand.
ENGAGEMENT
  • Work closely with GGGI Ethiopia Project Managers, regional and global communication and knowledge sharing unit to share, shape, and deliver effective and impactful communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Engage with GGGI country, regional, and global programs to learn about their interventions and support external audience-facing initiatives.
  • Liaises with the country team and project managers in assigned region/sub-national to ensure compliance with GGGI processes and monitor project/program delivery progress and implementation of risk mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external vendors (i.e., printer, designer, etc.) to produce campaigns and marketing packages.
  • Engage with media colleagues to promote GGGI’s green growth solutions.
DELIVERY
  • Support the implementation of GGGI Ethiopia’s communication and knowledge-sharing strategy in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Support the conceptualization, planning, and delivery of external-facing knowledge-sharing and public relations events.
  • Support internal communication efforts, including cross-team learning and sharing through strategy development, managing GGGI’s weekly global information sessions, and supporting senior leadership in communicating important messages across the organization.
  • Support the recognition of GGGI’s brand through visual guidelines, communication, and knowledge-sharing policies and practices, helping country/regional teams implement these.
  • Create a wide range of creative communication content supporting program and project delivery, including factsheets, press releases, social media posts, blogs, the monthly newsletter, multimedia materials, and website posts and infographics.
  • Maintain and manage the program’s creative resources library, which includes a photo library, videos, design templates, and content for the program page on the GGGI website
  • Coordinate and liaise with related external vendors for producing campaigns and marketing materials, as appropriate; manage and direct photographers and videographers for producing desired content
  • Support the redesign and upkeep of the GGGI Ethiopia homepage and lead the initiative’s implementation across GGGI’s country-regional offices, ensuring alignment with program needs.
  • Stay abreast of pertinent research and news within GGGI’s scope, distilling key messages for both internal colleagues and critical external audiences.
  • Analyze, measure, and report on communication efforts and provide advice if strategies and interventions need adjustment.
  • Support and help drive the consistent incorporation of gender and social inclusion in all communication and knowledge-sharing interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in a field relevant to marketing, communications, design or knowledge management or related fields.
  • An advanced degree may be considered as part of professional experience.
  • Preferred at least 5 years of work experience in relevant areas, including internships, volunteering, and unpaid assignments.
  • Hands-on experience in producing communications collateral (using relevant software/tools, etc.) is required
  • Experience in a reputable media or journalism entity is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for climate change issues and green growth through life choices, academic studies, and paid/unpaid work experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in a second language relevant to GGGI Ethiopia is a plus.
FUNCTIONAL
  • Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills, along with effective teamwork.
  • Possesses a creative mindset with hands-on experience in design and storytelling for a wide range of audiences.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, Adobe programs, and other communication applications and technologies for developing creative communication materials and visuals (e.g., video, social media).
  • Capable of conducting research, analyzing data, and consistently applying findings for the development of communication initiatives.
  • Committed to integrating gender and social inclusion into communication and knowledge-sharing interventions.
  • Experience living and/or working in multicultural contexts is advantageous.
