The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
The Senior Coordinator for Development Operations is part of the CSIS team that leads efforts to strategically develop relationships with and strengthen financial support from corporations, foundations, governments, and individuals to advance the Center’s institutional goals and objectives. The position reports to the Senior Director of Fundraising Operations and supports the Senior Director, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the rest of the corporate team in the Strategic Planning Office.
The minimum annual salary for this position is $60,000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Handle all administrative tasks associated with CSIS’s Corporate Circle program.
• Manage all corporate prospect records in database and electronic files.
o Maintain and manage data for the Corporate Membership Portfolio via Salesforce (and Excel) for seamless allocation process with the Development Team leadership and assume primary responsibility for corporate membership reporting in collaboration with Finance and Accounting team.
o Produce, file, and track invoices for the Development team and CSIS program teams; serve as the primary accessor to payment platforms of some donor organizations and execute transactions as needed.
o Serve as a liaison for Development to all other departments and programs, building relationships with coordinators Center-wide and providing billing documentation support and Salesforce best practices guidance for the Center’s funding allocation process.
o Assist with Center-wide database maintenance and training as needed.
• As needed, this role will include the conservation and compliance verification of our Salesforce records, across funding sources, in addition to supporting foundation reporting, prospecting, and cultivation. The work will include, as assigned, funder research, the review of written materials, and assisting in guiding programs towards alignment with funders.
• Assist and coordinate corporate VIP events, as assigned, including managing invitation design, mailing lists, RSVPs, advance materials, and logistics as requested; schedule donor meetings for CDO, Senior Director, and other CSIS leadership and Development staff as requested.
• Prepare letters as requested on behalf of CDO and CEO to solicit support of and acknowledge financial contributions for corporate membership and other projects; Draft and execute donor correspondence for CDO as requested.
• Support other corporate cultivation and stewardship as requested.
• Support other development team administrative support as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree required. At least 1 year professional experience in nonprofit fundraising/administration, or similar work in either the think tank/educational community or in the private sector strongly preferred.
• Interest in global development, international relations, and policy-related research; ability to remain up-to-date on the research agendas of CSIS programs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, grammar/writing skills.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite applications with advanced Excel skills (designing pivots sheets, etc.).
• SalesForce fluency is a must.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple tasks, and proprietary information with a high level of discretion.
• Must possess a professional demeanor in approach and appearance
