Prematurity and its complications are one of the leading causes of neonatal deaths worldwide. Every year 15 million babies in the world are born prematurely. Supported by WHO, icddr,b along with DGHS is jointly administering a project on immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (iKMC) into public health facilities in Bangladesh.
Brief Description of Position:
The Senior Field Research Officer reporting to the Senior Research Investigator will be mainly responsible for following duties and responsibilities;
- Cooperating in developing project implementation plan;
- Maintain liaison with DGHS authority, other Govt. Officials, and relevant stakeholders within the designated area;
- Represent the immediate Kangaroo mother support project at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and if need support district and upazila level and work to build rapport with all the stakeholders in the assigned field sites;
- Share findings with PI and seek inputs
- Prepare monthly reports for submission to project leads;
- Arrange and conduct in-depth interviews (IDI) and survey independently with immediate Kangaroo Mother care receivers, caregivers, hospital personnel and other stakeholders;
- Collect training materials, project materials and logistics from head office and maintain the quality of the ongoing project activities, prepare forecast budget for all types of meetings/workshop/orientation;
- Arrange workshop and provide training to RMCH personnel on immediate Kangaroo Mother Care Procedure
- Conduct monthly/weekly meetings with RMCH authorities for effective project implementation;
- Monitor quality immediate Kangaroo mother care service delivery rates against timelines and project criteria;
- Supervise field team members and coordinate Pediatricians and Gynecologist and field team members to ensure smooth immediate Kangaroo Mother care service implementation;
- Assign work to the team and initiate activities as per project plan, coach staff on how to address issues faced during field-work;
- Rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful inferences from data;
- Discuss team members’ initial reports together for consensus on findings;
- Review the report by field staff and provide feedback in order to improve the report.
- Guide team members on the completion of tasks, activities, reports and documents (e.g. qualitative research methods, tools);
- Mentor and train staff on-the-job in the field; provide feedback to supervisor on team members’ performance for capacity building of team members;
Required qualification and experience:
- Master in any discipline;
- At least 5 years of work experience in the MNH field;
- Excellent knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS, STATA);
- Working experience in Rajshahi will be given preference.
Duty location: Rajshahi and other project implementation sites.
Contract type and duration:
- Fixed Term Contract; duration will be for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Annual Tk. 866,060/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits.
- 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
