Reports to: Associate Director of Grant Compliance

Location: Remote U.S.; Boston, MA; or Hybrid, with up to 15% international travel

Employment Type: Full time

Position Overview:

Partners In Health (PIH) is looking for an individual with significant experience managing donor-initiated audits for international non-governmental organizations to serve as a Senior Grant Audit Manager on the PIH global Grants Management and Compliance (GMC) team.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Grant Compliance, the Senior Grant Audit Manager will work closely with PIH coordination site, care delivery and academic site-basedprograms, finance and grant management colleagues to manage donor-initiated grant audits and develop and serve as a key point of contact for grant audit-related inquiries and guidance. The Senior Grant Audit Manager will manage (or support care-deliveryor academic site finance and grant management staff in managing)grant audits at every stage: from development of audit requests for proposals (RFPs) and terms of reference (TORs) to implementation and ongoing monitoring of corrective actions.As part of the GMC team, this role will contribute tomonitoring and sustaining grant compliance across the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Organization-wide Single Audit (25%)

  • Develop and, in coordination with PIH’s auditor, manage the schedule for the Single Audit.
  • Compile, review and deliver accurate and complete general ledgers, award agreements and any other information required by the auditor in connection with the Single Audit.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to auditor questions or feedback on PIH submissions.
  • In consultation with PIH coordination site accounting staff, develop responses to auditor concerns or findings relating to the Single Audit.
  • In coordination with PIH coordination site accounting staff, review and provide comments to the Single Audit report.
  • Track and monitor implementation of any corrective actions resulting from the Single Audit.
  • Serve as primary PIH contact for the PIH auditor and any PIH staff regarding the Single Audit.
  • Regularly update PIH finance leadership on the status of the Single Audit.

Donor Audits (65%)

  • Develop or review and negotiate grant audit RFPs and TORs.
  • Manage implementation of audit workplans, identifying responsible staff and timeframes for each activity.
  • Review requested supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness and manage document filing and upload or other delivery to auditors.
  • In consultation with relevant care-delivery or academic site staff and PIH coordination site accounting and finance staff, respond promptly and accurately to auditor inquiries and concerns and provide comments to the audit report.
  • Track and monitor implementation of any corrective actions resulting from the audit.
  • Serve as primary PIH contact (or support care-delivery or academic site staff serving as primary contact) for the auditor and any PIH staff regarding the audit.
  • Regularly update PIH finance leadership on audit status.
  • Maintain tracker listing status of all active, expected, and completed grant audits, including status of audit, findings or concerns, and status and monitoring plans for any corrective actions.
  • Develop tools and systems and implement trainings to advance audit preparedness across PIH, including periodic transaction testing on high-compliance awards and subawards.
  • Distill key audit outcomes to inform GMC team and PIH-wide priorities.

Organization-level compliance support (10%)

  • Support GMC team initiatives such as roll out of and training on policies and procedures relating to grant management and compliance.
  • Inform and support the coordination and management of misconduct allegations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, concentration in finance or related field preferred; master’s degree in finance or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing high-compliance (preferably public sector) donor-initiated grant audits in the international development context, including planning, organizing, and directing diverse stakeholders towards successful audit completion.
  • Detailed knowledge of major public sector, multilateral, and private sector donor rules and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial best practices and grant administration rules.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse team of stakeholders, honoring the concerns and priorities of local staff in field sites.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to synthesize and convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong financial, analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally.
