The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) – Platforms & Services Department (P&S) – Integration Division (INT) – Integration Solutions Unit (ISU) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Hybrid/ Cloud Integration Engineer*.

This is a full time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

Are you an experienced Solution Architect with a passion for designing integration solutions in a hybrid cloud environment? Look no further! We are seeking a talented Hybrid Cloud Integration Solution Architect to join our team and play a central role in our ambitious digital transformation.

You will be responsible for designing and architecting solutions within our Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). While expertise in cloud technologies is essential, our top priority is finding a candidate who can lead the design and implementation of our ESB solutions on the cloud. Your solution design skills will be crucial as you navigate the complexities of integrating ESB within our journey towards hybrid cloud environment.

Accountabilities

  • Design and architect cutting-edge solutions for ESB, with a focus on migrating to a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Overlook the development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement of complex ESB solutions, having a very good understanding of the used technologies. Be in lead of best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, deployment and operations.
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to ESB developers to build their cloud competencies.
  • Develop the Hybrid Cloud Integration capabilities in accordance with enterprise architecture guidelines and industry standards to ensure its long-term cost-effectiveness, business value, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and scalability
  • Establish patterns of solutions for integrating applications (bespoke, COTS, Software as a Service (SaaS)) running on a hybrid cloud environment, leveraging the power of the cloud
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment with our cloud strategy
  • Play a central role in our digital transformation journey, addressing integration challenges and ensuring the smooth integration of new systems
  • Follow new market trends and propose innovative approaches in the field of Hybrid Cloud Integration
  • Implement relevant security standards to ensure compliance with good market practices and relevant EIB Information and IT Security policies
  • Draft and submit Project Charters to implement new and enhanced ESB functionalities
  • Manage projects to ensure solution delivery within the set schedule, budget and quality objectives, and keep the stakeholders informed on the progress, timing and budget

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Management or related field
  • At least 5 years’ of relevant professional experience in solution design and architecture, particularly within integration domains and ESB
  • Strong expertise in hybrid cloud environments and a deep understanding of cloud technologies and how to leverage them to deliver integration capabilities
  • Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with IBM ACE and/or WSO2 Micro Integrator is a plus
  • Familiarity with Java is a plus
  • Ability to perform hands-on Proof of Concept (POC) work to assess comprehensively applicability and impact of technology choices
  • Knowledge of security aspects of modern application design and associated protocols
  • Good knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices
  • Knowledge of automation and enablement technologies, such as Jenkins, Jira, Git, Nexus, and Azure DevOps
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
