The EIB, the European Union’s bank is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO), Platforms & Services Department (P&S), Infrastructure Services Division (IS), Network & Data Centre Unit (NDC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) IT Disaster Recovery Manager *.

This is a full-time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose

We are seeking a visionary IT Disaster Recovery Manager to architect and uphold a resilient infrastructure for the EIB Group. This is a unique opportunity to design and innovate disaster recovery strategies and plans for critical IT infrastructure systems.

Operating Network

You will report to the Head of Network & Data Centres Unit.

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy and ensure the timely recovery of critical IT systems in the event of a disruption or disaster
  • Design disaster recovery solutions, including redundancy protocols, aligned with best practices and compliance standards
  • Serve as a go-to-expert for all disaster recovery-related issues in Platform & Services Department and coordinate responses and resolutions in a timely and effective manner
  • Proactively conduct regular risk assessments and business impact analyses, enhancing our defence mechanism
  • Monitor and analyse IT infrastructure systems to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and provides expert advice on mitigation measures to minimize the risk of disruptions
  • Educate our teams, sharing best practices in disaster recovery, complete with comprehensive documentation
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and regulations, advocating for continuous advancement of our disaster recovery protocols

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) in computer science or related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of experience in delivery of the IT infrastructure services
  • Proven track record in IT infrastructure disaster recovery, with good knowledge of technologies and tools, such as backup software, replication solutions, and virtualization technologies
  • Experience in designing and implementing backup and recovery processes, and redundant systems
  • Broad understanding of IT infrastructure, IT applications, architecture, and orchestration/ monitoring/ automation tools
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver under high-stress situations and effectively lead teams through crisis situations
  • ITIL Certification would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written English and/or French(*) language skills and a good command of the other

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
