The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Legal Directorate (JU), EU Operations Department (OPS-EU), Northern Europe Division (NE) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Legal Assistant*.
This is a full time position at grade 1/2 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

The Northern Europe (NE) Division of the Legal Department of the EIB is composed of eleven lawyers and three assistants. It provides legal advice to the EIB in relation to all types of its lending operations (including secured and non-secured transactions, structured finance, and restructurings) and with all types of counterparties (from sovereigns, local municipalities and banks to corporate organisations). Geographically the NE Division covers the EIB lending operations in Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, and the EFTA countries.
As a (Senior) Legal Assistant, internally referred as (Senior) Operational Assistant, you will perform a wide range of legal, administrative, and secretarial duties in relation to all stages of the EIB lending operations. You will share responsibilities with the other assistants in the NE Division.
You will report to the Head of Division, and you will co-operate closely with the lawyers in the NE Division. You will also co-operate with colleagues of other EIB Directorates as well as with the EIB’s clients.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
