JOB DETAIL

Under the overall coordination of the Head of Programmes and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate, the Senior Legal Support Associate will support the development and implementation of labour migration and inclusion (LMI) initiatives by providing legal support. The incumbent will be based in Bucharest, Romania

  1. Provide legal support for LMI initiatives and activities, namely monitor and report on national and EU legislative processes, provide technical inputs on legal aspects of LMI initiatives and activities as needed.
  2. Assist in implementing the private sector engagement strategy by maintaining partnerships, creating and maintaining stakeholders’ databases, and encouraging participation to LMI.
  3. Provide support in drafting guidelines, protocols, and operational procedures to enhance labour migration governance and support institutional capacity-building efforts.
  4. Support in developing training materials on ethical recruitment, lead and organize lectures, collect and evaluate feedback.
  5. Prepare and facilitate  round tables and IOM LMI events, and document follow-up actions.
  6. Assist in monitoring compliance with internal procedures and administrative rules.
  7. Support in verifying that legal documents align with organizational templates and frameworks.
  8. Identify funding opportunities and support the development of concept notes and project proposals.
  9. Support colleagues and partners with legal technical research and guidance as needed.
  10. Performs such other duties that may be assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma with six years or relevant professional experience; or,
  • ​Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of professional experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in legal research, document drafting, or reviewing legal contracts and agreements.
  • Experience working in an international or multi-stakeholder context is an advantage.

SKILLS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to assist in preparing clear, concise legal correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage legal files, databases, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with the UN system’s rules, regulations, and procedures is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Romania’s migration landscape is an advantage.
