THE ROLE

Please note this is a temporary role (Parental cover), until 30th April 2024.

The Senior Manager, C19 Vaccine Delivery will report into the Director, C19 Vaccine Delivery, Integration and Coordination and will be responsible to drive implementation of the 2024-25 C19 programme in select countries in the High-Impact and CORE ESA segments.

Key functions and deliverables:

• Working closely with Alliance partners, Gavi Senior Country Managers and Program Managers, technical leads within Secretariat teams, ensure that countries receive high-quality strategic guidance and technical input in designing, implementing, and monitoring Covid-19 vaccination programmes;
• Work with Alliance partners and Secretariat teams to drive innovative approaches to reaching high-risk groups and integrating Covid-19 vaccination programmes into routine immunisation/PHC services;
• Work with countries, partners, and Secretariat country teams to ensure access and monitor progress of Gavi funding levers (e.g., CDS), and support efforts to address challenges and course correct as needed.

 

 

• Work closely with Alliance partners and Gavi country teams to ensure countries are accessing Covid-19 vaccine doses to meet national targets, particularly in high-risk populations;
• In collaboration with Alliance partners, Gavi country teams and other Secretariat teams, ensure that countries are accessing, implementing, and reprogramming (where relevant) Gavi funding levers to enable implementation of Covid-19 vaccination programmes;
• Work with Gavi country teams to identify countries experiencing programmatic delays or challenges and help identify solutions to course correct as required;
• In conjunction with Alliance partners and Secretariat teams, support the design and operationalisation of Covid-19 vaccination programmes, ensuring integration into routine immunisation programmes and/or primary health care services based on country needs and context;
• Coordinate and lead assigned cross-cutting COVID-19 vaccine deployment workstreams- in collaboration with other members of the COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Team and other Secretariat teams;
• Contribute to the design and operationalisation of the Alliance’s Pandemic Preparedness and Response delivery strategy, building on learnings and best practices from the Covid-19 pandemic.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in roles related to health policy, immunisation and/or health systems;
• Proven experience working in diverse, multi-partner environments;
• Experience working at both international level and in developing countries;
• Demonstrable experience in strategic programme design, project management, managing partnerships
and multi-stakeholder task forces.

 

 

• Critical thinking, problem-solving and creative mindset;
• Proactive identification, reporting and resolution/mitigation of issues and risks;
• Political acumen and ability to drive change and improvements in challenging, inter-cultural and complex environments;
• Excellent interpersonal negotiation skills, including ability to problem solve and manage conflict, including with senior counterparts at government level and amongst Gavi partners;
• Flexible mindset and ability to adapt quickly, focusing on value creation;
• Effective consultations with and influencing counterparts at all levels;
• Good knowledge of policies, systems, and procedures in global public health settings;
• Ability to work with wide range of stakeholders across the spectrum of government, donors, technical partners, civil society, humanitarian actors, and other expanded partners.

 

 

• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential;
• Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory to support francophone countries.

 

 

• Advanced University degree Public Health, Health Economics, Social Sciences, International Development, or related fields.

 

 

• Gavi Secretariat;
• Gavi Alliance partners, including UNICEF, WHO, multilateral and bilateral donors, civil society organisations, and humanitarian actors;
• COVAX Facility teams.
