CARE Canada is looking for a Senior Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance

ABOUT THE ROLE / WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

Reporting to Head of Programs, the Manager, Financial Analysis will leadandsupporta team of financial analysts and conduct several processes to meet operational and contractual requirements that support the effective management of various development projects. This position is accountable for the development of systems for effective project financial management, ensuring the funds are used for the intended purpose, donor compliance requirements, support the development of project proposal budgets, oversee the analysis on project expenditure against budgets, investigating variances and provide risk mitigation.

This involves project accounting cycle, continuous review, update and analysis of the portfolio performance of projects to ensure adequate planning, forecasting and measurement of the Outcome Area budget targets. The incumbent is also expected to provide coaching, technical advice, and capacity building to FA reports and CO’s/Partner project finance staff.

WHAT YOU OFFER / ABOUT YOU

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior financial role
  • University degree in Accounting
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skills in contracts negotiations with various Government agencies (GAC), international UN agencies & private donors.
  • An ability to readily see the financial and reporting implications of the terms and conditions in donor contracts
  • A thorough understanding of budgetary processes and variance analysis
  • A thorough understanding of accounting processes as they impact on the overall financial system
  • A good appreciation of the need to provide timely and reliable information to senior management and to donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance personnel in a simple manner, without the technical / accounting jargon
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally (a valid passport will be required)
  • Strong computer skills specifically in Excel, Outlook and the Windows operating environment
  • This position is based in Canada, but international travel will be required (a valid passport will be required).

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXTRAORDINARY

  • Professional accounting designation (i.e. CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Fluency in French or Spanish (English/French or English/Spanish)
  • Experience working for an International non-government organisation (INGO)
  • Experience leading finance staff with strong people management skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Starting salary range between $80,000 – $85,000
