Girl Up is a girl-centered leadership development initiative, focusing on equity for girls and women in spaces where they are unheard or underrepresented. We believe when girls and women are in positions of influence, they work to create a more just and equitable world for everyone.
Girl Up operates a global network of regional affiliates and serves 150,000 girls in 150 countries. We deliver evidence-based leadership development training through our girl-led Clubs, programs, and events. As members of a global movement, girls are a force for social good — connected to a community of their peers who are advocating for policy change and advancing gender justice.

The Sr. Manager, Institutional Giving reports to the Sr. Director, Global Philanthropy, Girl Up and is responsible for the development and execution of the overall strategy and plan for Girl Up’s institutional gift development effort, focused on maximizing and growing revenue from private foundations, public trusts, corporate and family foundations to realize the mission, vision, and strategic imperatives of Girl Up.

Essential Functions
- Responsible for new business development, stewardship and growth of a portfolio of partnerships, from private foundations, public trusts, corporate and family foundations in strategic global markets with a focus on six-figure+ multi-year gifts.
- Create and execute unique, engaging fundraising strategies to raise $750,000 annually in new funds from institutional funders with annual year over year growth while maintaining current portfolio of existing funders.
- Expand Girl Up’s network of potential funders and strategically develop new prospects by building a network of substantial external partnerships, proactive outreach, ensuring pipeline of prospects meets funding needs and goals.
- Plan, execute, and engage in institutional donor and prospect cultivation meetings and events.
- Prepare fact sheets, proposals, decks, solicitations and other collateral for potential funders.
- Measure, evaluate, analyze and refine current fundraising strategies to enhance and grow sustainable revenue.
- Manage relationships by providing customized communication and frequent opportunities for engagement. Oversee stewardship activities; ensure a high-touch response rate and a high level of customer service to partners.
- Collaborate across departments to maximize funding opportunities, relay opportunities and expectations to/from prospects and Girl Up internal stakeholders.
- Manage a team of 1-2 development team members, motivating, advising, and establishing annual benchmarks and sustainable donor portfolios.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of Salesforce database ensure all prospects and contributions are processed and tracked within the UNF operating procedures, extract information and prepare reports.

Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 6-8 years as a development professional with a history of success in soliciting, cultivating and closing new gifts of minimum $500,000.
- Entrepreneurial – willing to try new approaches and refine when needed.
- Commitment to Girl Up’s mission and core values.
- Proven ability to reach and/or exceed an annual revenue goal.
- Exceptional partnership building and networking skills.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to partners.
- Knowledge and understanding of foundation grant process, including grant writing and reporting.
- Excellent teamwork/project-management including internal and written communication skills. ability to maintain a stabilizing presence when confronted with conflicting demands.
- Proven track-record of building and maintaining relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Interest in and passion for global development and international affairs, especially regarding women and girl issues.
- Knowledge of relationship management (CRM) systems like Salesforce.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, dynamic people-skills.
- Strong in person, over the phone and in writing communications skills to speak with and engage a wide range of individuals including high-level executives and youth supporters.
- Self-starter and ability to work across multiple departments and with a range of people.
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial, fun and team oriented.
- Commitment to fostering an anti-racist and inclusive workplace required.
