THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
You will manage Save the Children’s strategy, planning, and risk management functions. This includes leading the annual operating plan (AOP) process in line with existing established practices and protocols and supporting the implementation of a new risk management framework for the organisation. This position will work closely with the VP, Operations and will also support the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support the tracking and delivery of the organization’s strategic plan. This role will have access to confidential information related to organizational risks as it will support risk management and decision making. While our offices are located in Toronto, this role will join, and work with, a team with staff located across the country.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Planning
- Lead the AOP process by engaging with internal stakeholders, facilitating discussions, gathering and compiling information, and ensuring on-time completion
- Manage progress reporting, including the collection and compilation of data, preparation of reports and dashboards, and regular reporting to the SLT
- Prepare of materials for the Strategy and Risk Committee of the Board
- Work closely with members of the SLT and provide support to execute strategies and sub-strategies related to their areas of focus
Risk Management
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of SCC’s risk management framework
- Act as a subject matter expert, working closely with SLT to ensure that risk management measures are in place for all key organizational initiatives
- Provide risk assessment expertise by participating in strategic projects and discussions
- Prepare and update quarterly risk reports and dashboards
- Prepare materials for the Strategy and Risk Committee of the Board
Reporting and Analysis
- Develop, produce, and deploy standardized internal reports and templates
- Manage the collection and compilation of data to support external reporting (e.g., to Save the Children International)
- Support the continuous improvement of existing organizational processes, systems, and policies
- Support the development of organizational metrics and KPIs to track progress and measure success
- Develop and maintain data collection and reporting systems within the context of this role, in collaboration with the IT department
Project Management and Facilitation
- Oversee the coordination of scheduling related to AOP and risk management initiatives
- Organize and facilitate meetings related to strategy and strategic initiatives
- Identify and report on barriers or impediments to the completion of the AOP to SLT and recommend mitigation or adjustment measures
WHAT YOU BRING
In order for you to carry out these duties, we believe that you are brining the following education and sets of skills.
Qualification, Knowledge & Experience:
- Completion of a degree or diploma
- 5-7 years’ work experience in a similar related role or function
- Strong relationship skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated success leading and managing end-to-end organizational strategic planning, risk management, and change management processes
- Strong knowledge of analysis, problem solving, and structured approaches to identifying solutions
- Skilled with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI (or other data visualization solutions)
- Highly proficient analytical skills with the ability to organize results and recommendations clearly
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines and deliverables
- Ability to maintain high levels of ethics, honesty, and confidentiality when dealing with potentially sensitive information
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must adhere to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding policy and protocols
