Salary Information
Approximately £38,819 net per annum, (subject to deductions), free of income tax in the UK. Excellent benefits including medical insurance and UN pension scheme
Purpose
Under the immediate supervision of the Sales and Marketing Officer, and the overall supervision of the Head, Sales and Marketing, the incumbent will be responsible for providing specialized support to the promotion of IMO publications in print and digital formats, and the smooth and efficient functioning of the sales and customer service operations
Duties and Responsibilities
Management and Coordination• Drafting, content production and day-to-day management of all IMO Publishing communication channels and product information, such as: – IMO Publishing public web and Intranet pages – eCommerce system – Online catalogue and code sheets – Video presentations, webinars, and tutorials – Social media channels – All regular customer communications, including promotional emails and IMO Publishing e-newsletters• Mentor, support, and train other team members in various policy, procedural and technical areas.• Conduct periodic reviews and analysis of queries received and issues related to the sales operation and recommend remedial measures and control procedures to prevent such issues recurring.• Monitor and analyse material records and identify any discrepancies; investigate potential causes, and implement measures to strengthen control procedures to address deficiencies, as applicable.Strategic Responsibilities• Assist in developing and delivering multi-platform communications strategies for IMO Publishing campaigns, projects, and initiatives.• Prepare policy and strategy proposals related to the marketing and sales of IMO Publishing content. • Prepare and maintain standard operating procedure documents for the areas covered by or linked to the role.Innovation• Develop and maintain relations with the publishing community, including providers of marketing and sales services. Research best practices and advise management on suitability for implementation within IMO Publishing.• Draft, review and update policies, procedures and requirements for sales publications, keeping abreast of current industry trends and technologies.• Contribute to the development and implementation of recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.• Assist in the preparation of statistical analyses and reports on sales activities, inventory transactions and advise management on required follow up actions. Sales and Marketing Activities• Promote and demonstrate digital products to existing and potential customers, both remotely and in person, internationally. • Assist with the management of distributor and reseller relationships, including monitoring and updating distributor agreements.• Participate, with other sales team members, in responding to enquiries and customer assistance requests via the sales email account and/or by phone.• Perform other duties and replace other staff in the Publishing Service, as required

Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to draft clearly and concisely on technical issues to various audiences, as well as sales and marketing copywriting.• Proofreading skills with a high level of accuracy and meticulous attention to details.• Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and service orientation.• Solutions-orientated approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and to work independently with minimal supervision.• Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.• Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal tactfully in all situations and interactions
Experience
A minimum of six years’ experience in marketing, communications, sales/e-commerce or a related field. A good understanding of the publishing business is essential, and practical experience in the development, promotion and sales of digital titles would be an asset. Similar experience within the UN common system or an international organization would be an asset
Education
Secondary education to university entrance standard. Any additional qualifications in business, management, marketing or a related field would be an asset
Language Skills
Complete proficiency in English, both written and oral. A working knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French or Spanish, would be an asset
