The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General, Communication Department, Media Division located in the EIB External Office in Madrid, a (Senior) Media Officer*.

This is a full-time temporary position at grade 5/6 in Madrid, Spain. The term of this contract will be 6 years.
Panel interviews are anticipated in February 2024.
The Senior Adviser, Communication, based in Madrid, will help manage the EIB’s profile in Spain as well as in Spanish-speaking countries. As member of the Communication Department, he or she will support EIB communications by actively promoting visibility for the EIB activities and goals, strategy and achievements, through outreach to, and handling of, local and international news outlets. He or she will benefit from being fully integrated within the work of the Communication Department, with regular travel to EIB Headquarters in Luxembourg and other capitals and international events.
The Senior Adviser will, among other things, help manage all communications channels, including press releases, press briefings, social media accounts, interviews and events. He or she will work closely with colleagues within the Media Relations division, the President’s Office, other Divisions, and Units in the Communication department, and across the Bank.
The Senior Adviser will work closely with the Head of the EIB Group’s Madrid Office as well as his team, ensuring smooth and timely information flow and coordination with all relevant initiatives on the ground.
This is a senior role, reporting directly to the Director of Communication and working closely with the President, as well as with the teams in the communication Directorate.
Internal contacts: President’s Office, members of the Management Committee and their advisors, staff from Operations and Projects and all other directorates involved in relevant projects or issues.
External contacts: senior specialist reporters, editors, publishers, opinion makers in media outlets across Spain and globally.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
