• Independent responsibility for planning and implementation of own work plan and that of other nursing staff as delegated by the Chief Medical officer.
• Promotion and maintenance of health care in the mission including prevention of health hazards for all staff.
• Effectively develops staff under his/her supervision, including their on-going learning and development on continued nursing education.
• Timely preparation of medical budget, procurement of medications /consumables, and ensure all staff are equipped with training for medical updates

Duties and Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the International IC Nurse will be responsible for the following duties:
• Attend the day-to-day activities at the clinic in a full time basis and goes on-call 24/7 when required.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist the Medical Officers in providing medical care.
• Perform ECG, and other medical exams such as blood tests, glucose, cholesterol and urine exams, as required.
• Maintain and organize the medical clinic for any emergency, identifies and plans for clinics’ required consumables/ supplies and equipment requirements and raises lists accordingly.
• Assess needs of clients visiting the clinic ensuring good bedside manners, provide care/advice accordingly, and facilitate referral to the UN Medical Officer/ identified level 2 hospital.
• Assist in providing health education and participate in addressing work environment, occupational health and other specific health issues.
• Maintains medical inventory and supplies and distributes medical supplies to outstations.
• Assist in the pharmacy, arrangement of the drugs and medical supplies including inventory, monthly consumptions, expired drugs.
• Assist/escort in medevac procedures, arrange and prepare the body of the deceased prior to repatriation of dead body.
• Supervise nurses on daily basis to ensure quality health care is delivered to all UN staff.
• Assist the CMO in preparing Medical Budget, Procurement of medications/consumables, process continued medical education to all staff.
• Performs other duties as and when required.
Qualifications/special skills
High school or equivalent diploma is required.
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical, intensive care and/or health administration is required.
Supervisory experience in UN mission administration with knowledge and understanding of relevant UN administrative policies and procedures is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French and Arabic is desirable.
