Purpose of the job

The objective of the role is to support the team in the Climate Strategy and Delivery department responsible for:

(1) development of green finance related methodologies;

(2) Coordinating green assessments as part of EBRD project cycle to ensure they are in line with Banks strategies and policies; and

(3) Tracking and reporting green operations data, including those related to impact, up to signing.

The position holder will support (i) CSDs quality assurance and data management process; and (ii) investment preparation and client engagement with Banks Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs).

Background

The role is based in the Bank’s Climate Strategy and Delivery department in the Vice Presidency for Policy and Partnerships. The Climate Strategy and Delivery team centralises all climate policy within the EBRD, and works across the Bank towards facilitating sustainable investment and mobilised sustainable finance in line with the Bank’s Green Economy Transition (GET) objectives.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Head of Sustainable Finance Policy, the role will support the Green Financial Systems department and the wider CSD team to deliver on their ambition and have two aims:

  1. Support the quality assurance process in CSD to ensure the banks green assessments are correct, complete and consistent. This will involve reviewing investment projects and managing input into the Banks data systems.

Support the Banks work with Partner Financial Institutions including being involved in investment preparation and capacity building and technical support to the Banks clients.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Support quality application of the Banks green finance approaches by:
  • Summarise green related project cycle information for CSD colleagues.
  • Reviewing projects to ensure consistency with the Banks Green assessment approaches, with a particualr focus on data completeness and correctness
  • Manage input of green related project information to the Banks IT systems and ensuring all project documents are achived for record keeping purposes.
  • Manage the tool which allocates CSD specialists to all projects in the Banks pipeline.
  • Maintenance of monthly data reports summarising green related information for input into management reporting.
  • Support green elements of financial transactions in the financial instituions sector through:
  • Supporting CSD lead specialists preparing green assessments, taking a lead on specific elements as required.
  • Supporting the administration and development of web-based tools and websites linked to operational delivery.
  • Inputting to the Banks capacity building efforts
  • Taking leadership and mentoring junior colleagues to support their development, growth and further understanding of the Banks core duties
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

Knowledge Skills & Experience

Education and Skills

  • A degree and/or equivalent business experience
  • Fluent English, with excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • experience in a similar role
  • Very good interpersonal skills – able to understand, respect and respond appropriately using tact, patience and diplomacy to other people’s behaviour and concerns in a multicultural environment; ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with discretion
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Strong organisational, administrative and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to prioritise and schedule tasks
  • Attention to detail and eye for accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, to tackle issues and propose practical solutions
  • Ability to work as part of a team where tasks are allocated by the line manager, willingness to support the wider team and assisting and collaborating with colleagues in the Support Unit.

Computer literate: advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications. Well-versed in use of MS365 and other relevant software tools available to perform tasks

Desirable Attributes

  • Familiarity with green finance related requirements of EBRD and/or other international financing institutions and/or development agencies.
  • Knowledge of languages from the EBRD Regions, both written and spoken
  • Understanding of the EBRD region of operations.
  • Sound understanding of business and finance principles.
  • Ability to work in a highly complex environment.
