The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Operations Directorate (OPS), Operations Support Department (OSD), Business Support and Analytics Division (3-BUS SUPP& AN), Pricing and Profitability Unit (PPR), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Officer Loan Products & Pricing*.
This is a full-time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Purpose
As an (Senior) Officer – Loan Products & Pricing, internally referred to as (Senior) Officer Lending Operations, you will provide analysis, reporting and advice to the OPS and the EIB Global (GLO) Directorates as First Line of Defense in relation to the Bank’s lending activity, notably in the areas of pricing, cost coverage, profitability, market developments and capital consumption.
Operating Network
Reporting to the Head of Unit, you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues within the Division, as well as across the Operational Support and Climate (OSD) Department. Based on a strong internal network, you will need to ensure effective consultation with OPS and GLO Departments and to collaborate closely with Risk Management (RM), Portfolio Management and Monitoring (PMM), Finance (FI) and other EIB Directorates and with the EIF.
Accountabilities
In this post, you will:
- Follow and analyze regulatory and capital market developments; in close cooperation with FI and RM, assess their impact on the EIB’s pricing methodology, on the profitability of EIB lending products and on the use of capital; contribute to Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO) meetings and ALCO working groups
- Represent the OPS and GLO Directorates in Working Groups related to the transition from x-IBOR to Risk Free Rates. In close cooperation with the OPS and GLO transactional Departments and with other Directorates, coordinate the development and implementation of the EIB’s Risk Free Rate loan products, and prepare updates to OPS and GLO Senior Management and to the EIB Governing Bodies on related activities.
- Ensure the monitoring and analysis of pricing attractiveness of EIB products in different market segments; provide historical and forward-looking analysis and formulate proposals to the Management Committee (MC), the Audit Committee, OPS and GLO senior management or other internal bodies, i.a. on pricing, profitability, cost-coverage, capital allocation (including on the use of Economic Capital), capital market developments and complex or innovative operations
- Elaborate proposals for the implementation and updating of policies related to non-risk pricing (Mark-up, modulation, fees, other pricing components, Financial Value Added – FVA) and capital consumption and allocation, and more generally business development, and represent the Directorate(s) in related Bank-wide Working Groups and initiatives; ensure maintenance and update of related procedures in close cooperation with other Divisions of OSD
- Provide business input for the development of internal IT applications related to pricing and capital allocation, including drafting of user specifications, and proper functioning of existing tools, in close cooperation with IT
- Calculate the FVA of individual loan operations or disbursements and provide relevant pricing advice to OPS, GLO and PMM colleagues, in particular for more complex transactions
- Screen MC Notes and Appraisal Fact Sheets (AFS’s) concerning pricing elements and provide relevant feedback to OPS and GLO colleagues and/or OPS and GLO management
- Provide guidance to more junior colleagues in the above activities
Qualifications
- University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in Finance/Economics/Mathematics or another quantitative subject. Postgraduate studies in these fields would be an advantage
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience including exposure to the lending process.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Business Objects and external financial IT databases (e.g. Bloomberg). Experience in working with large data samples and data management
- Knowledge of financial markets, good awareness of market developments, especially related to Risk Free Rate products. Prior experience in a financial market function would be an advantage
- Good knowledge of the lending and funding processes and products. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
