The Europe Infrastructure department is a dynamic team, which makes investments in infrastructure transactions ranging across several sectors including power, transportation, telecom, technology, subnational infrastructure and natural resources.

IFC is now seeking to recruit a qualified Senior Operations Assistant to join the Europe Infrastructure team, to support the implementation of the overall work program, including new business delivery.  The position is based in Vienna, Austria.

Role and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities for the selected candidate include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide a wide range of support to the Europe Infra investment and upstream team and management to make a significant contribution to the achievement of the unit work program.
• Conduct client research and integrity due diligence. Prepare/update IDD memo under supervision of investment teams.
• Lead procurement of external consultants in support of investment, upstream and portfolio projects and operations;
• Assist in IFC’s business development efforts. Perform industry and market research. Tailor pitchbooks and presentations for external stakeholders and clients;
• Work with team leads, climate lead and in collaboration with other units on various business initiatives, including but not limited to climate, gender.
• Participate in other aspects of IFC’s project processing cycle as needed, including scheduling committees, circulating internal documents for approval, supporting internal project processing.
• Support preparation of management briefs, reports, presentations, updates;
• Support knowledge initiatives, including organization of BBLs, conferences, knowledge team events;
• Update and maintain iPortal, Sharepoint, OneDrive and other internal databases for tracking, e-filing, and archiving system, applying the appropriate record retention policies. Be the ‘go-to’ person for data and documents filing.
• Provide guidance and answer general queries from staff, managers, and consultants about IFC/WBG procedures and policies. Act as the primary point of contact for key matters relating to policies, procedures and systems as they pertain to individual projects.
• Provide backup to Senior Upstream assistant, Senior Portfolio assistant and ACS staff during absences and peak periods.
• Other tasks that may arise in the day-to-day department’s workload.

 

Selection Criteria

• A bachelor’s degree from a renowned university, and a minimum 5 years’ of corporate work experience in finance, business, or administrative function.
• Demonstrated experience in providing support to investment projects and operations;
• Ability to conduct research, synthesize data and provide recommendations;
• Ability to write and communicate in a logical, clear and concise manner.
• Understanding of IFC’s investment operations in Europe. Familiarity with IFC investment policies and procedures would be a plus;
• Effective organizational skills. Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines. Ability to work with minimal supervision;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels;
• Excellent team skills with the ability to work across organizational boundaries, take initiatives and deliver;
• Good knowledge of relevant software applications and IFC systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, iDesk, iPortal, Webex, Admin Portal, SAP, etc.);
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; fluency in other regional languages is a plus;
• Keen interest in emerging markets and multicultural environments.
