Position Title: Senior Partnerships Officer

Reports to: Senior Director of Private Sector Partnerships

Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or hybrid of these two options. (~5-10% domestic and international travel, as needed)

Position Type: Full-time

 

Position Overview:
The Senior Partnerships officer will serve as an integral part of the eight-member Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) team, which leads organizational engagement with foundation and corporate partners. The Senior Partnerships Officer is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundation and corporate partners with the capacity to make six-, seven-, and eight-figure gift and in-kind donation commitments. This person plays a central role in developing and implementing solicitation strategies for private institutional partners and implementing individualized cultivation plans for their portfolio of assigned prospects. This position will work directly with senior Partners In Health (PIH) staff, country team leadership, and board members to achieve these goals. To apply please include a cover letter and resume.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Partnership Strategy and Management (50%)

  • Primary responsibility for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of 20-25 corporate and foundation partners. Manage a book of business valued at approximately $6M(including cash and in-kind donations to the organization).
  • Qualify new and lapsed partners to build out a broader prospect pipeline for the organization.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust portfolio strategies over the course of the year to meet multi-year revenue goals. Ensure portfolio strategies cover the full range of partnership possibilities (e.g. product donation, skilled employee volunteerism, etc.).
  • Ensure partner portfolio strategies integrate with the organization’s development, marketing, and advocacy initiatives (such as planned events, leadership publications, conference circuit, etc.).
  • Represent PIH externally with partners on phone calls, face-to-face meetings, and site visits.Responsible for preparing PIH leadership to lead or participate in partner meetings, conferences, and other cultivation and solicitation activities.

 

Content Creation for Partner Audiences (30%)

  • Write and edit requests for funding and reports for institutional partners—such as letters of inquiry, concept notes, pitch decks, proposals, donation requests, program updates, narrative reports, and grant applications—in close collaboration with program staff.
  • Develop and frame proposal/partnership ideas that reflect PIH’s programmatic priorities and best interests and are competitive according to donor interests and strategies.
  • Build and lead teams of internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of proposals, reports, and other key deliverables required by institutional partners. Ensure all submissions meet internal and external requirements.
  • Provide writing and editing support to other team members as needed.

Cross-team Collaboration (20%)

  • Engage across the broader resource generation and resource management branchesto maximize value of private sector partnerships and maximize shared-value, long-term partnerships with corporate and foundation partners that are authentic to mission, brand, and operational capabilities.
  • Perform other relevant duties as needed to support the institutional partnerships team and resource generation branch goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as global health, public health, business, or nonprofit management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience or associate degree with 7+ years of experience)
  • Requires at least 5 years of fundraising or related programmatic experience, including specialized knowledge of institutional fundraising best practices, proposal development, and donor solicitation.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills; ability to articulate PIH’s mission, program objectives, and resource needs persuasively to potential donors.
  • Ability to serve as an external representative to donors.
  • Demonstrated project management skills: ability to manage complex projects from creation to completion, plan and prioritize multiple projects, and coordinate teams to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with best practices in donor recognition and data management. Salesforce experience desirable.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally, including international travel to remote or hard to access locations with limited infrastructure.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country.
  • Interest in social justice strongly desirable.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $70,000 and $90,000/year. The starting salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
