The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an unlimited contract duration. Employment location will be Bonn or Berlin, Germany.

As Senior Policy Advisor, you will work in Welthungerhilfe’s Policy and External Relations Unit and accompany both german and international political processes that are relevant to world nutrition. Your assessments contribute to the positioning of Welthungerhilfe, which you represent in the political and public discourse for a world without hunger.

Your responsibilities

  • National and international policy work in the areas of sustainable development, food security and right to food
  • Formulation of development policy positions and representation of those to national and international political decision-makers in economy, civil society and the general public
  • Representation of Welthungerhilfe in relevant national and international networks
  • Preparation of policy briefs, position papers and other materials
  • Conception and implementation of specialist events
  • Development of expertise and speaking skills on other current development-related topics
  • Representation of subject-related content and positions in public appearances and in the media

Your profile

  • Several years of experience in policy and advocacy work at national and international level as well as representation experience with representatives from politics, economy, civil society, science and media
  • Profound experience in strategy building and implementation
  • Experience in the preparation of complex and cross-cutting analyses and concepts in the field of development cooperation
  • Work experience in (non-European) countries abroad is an advantage
  • Expertise in the field of sustainable development and/or (global) food security and in-depth knowledge in a relevant subject area such as agriculture, nutrition, environmental sciences and/or climate change
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills as well as persuasiveness and assertiveness towards partners and decision makers from politics, administration and civil society
  • Excellent spoken and written German and English; French language skills would be an advantage
