54 reasons’ Bail Support Service aim to address the reasons behind young people being remanded in custody. Through this service, we provide a holistic response to addressing risk factors contributing to a young person’s involvement in the youth justice system. In this role you will lead with example and create strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure young people receive the support they require.

In this full-time, max term role (approximately 10 months), you’ll work as a part of our Bail Support team in Hervey Bay to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Senior Practitioner plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children. Whether it’s providing child centred case management or ensuring the day-to-day operations of the office you’ll be contributing to our commitment to children in Australia, the Pacific and around the world.

 

You will make a difference by:

  • Drive quality program planning and implementation
  • Coach, train and develop colleagues to increase skill and competency to enable high quality service delivery
  • Develop and maintain operational stakeholder relationships that are critical to the success of the program
  • Coordinate staff caseloads and program logistics, monitoring and evaluation, risk management and child protection
  • Maintain a caseload of clients

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team, as well as work effectively in a team
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, understanding and experience working with culturally diverse young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, young people disengaged with the school system, young people in contact with the justice system
  • Demonstrated experience in using trauma informed practice
  • Ability to build relationships, liaise and plan with program stakeholders and community members
  • Strong communication skills and experience in report writing
  • Proven ability to anticipate and resolve problems
  • Leadership, while this position has no direct reports, as part of your role, working with the Team Leader.
  • You contribute to a collaborative outcome driven culture implementing strategies to enhance team performance; model effective communication and foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
