Position Title: Senior Program Associate, Net Zero Climate Services

POSITION SUMMARY
This senior program associate will be supporting with clients to unlock millions or billions of dollars to finance emission reduction and removals projects that contribute to keeping global warming to 1.5 Celsius. In this role you will projects often at the forefront of climate sustainability innovation, doing so by analyzing and improving project delivery efficiency, conducting supporting research on a wide array of decarbonization topics from energy, carbon accounting, climate target setting, carbon markets, and the food and agriculture sector, supporting logistical project. In this position you will work with some of the most influential companies in the world. Past and current Winrock clients include Nestle, McCormick and Company, and Microsoft. Experience or a sound understanding of the greenhouse gas emissions profiles and mitigation opportunities in agriculture, energy, packaging (plastics and/or metal), and/or transportation is desirable for this position. A general understanding of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Science-Based Targets initiative, and strategies to cut emissions, especially Scope 3 emissions, is helpful as well but not required. Sound personal organizational skills are a must. This position would report to the Director of Net Zero Climate Services, but support not only the Director but also other senior technical staff on the Net Zero Climate Services team. The position may be based remotely within the United States but is expected to work US East Coast hours (EST).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities Project Support Tracking spending across multiple projects for the Net Zero Compile or prepare documentation for consultant agreements, partner agreements, and procurements Conduct technical desk research on decarbonization topics Provide logistical support including event planning, travel arrangements, coordination and scheduling of meetings, note-taking during meetings, and other tasks Support creation of internal and external communications, including reports, presentations, project factsheets, drafting written communications, and managing email inboxes Support projects in meeting funder programmatic and administrative reporting requirements, for example, by preparing and tracking production calendars for the development and submission of project reports and other deliverables Support projects with financial administration tasks relating to check requests, expense reimbursements, advances, invoice and field office voucher review, monthly payments, and/or wire transfers Support project monitoring and evaluation activities, which may include analyzing data, managing relevant databases and trackers, and/or linking project data with required donor reporting Conduct or contribute to desk research including intelligence gathering on funding opportunities and competitor analyses, and/or research and analysis on technical topics; provide summarized findings in a clear and concise manner Coordinate filing of project documentation to Sharepoint in compliance with Winrock filing structure requirements Support the team in ensuring compliance of the project with Winrock’s policies, procedures, and contractual obligations, particularly for project-related procurement, subcontracts, consultant agreements, etc. All other duties as required or assigned New Business Support Complete specific capture and proposal support tasks (e.g., desk research, documentation of past performance, compilation of partner and staffing inputs, development of technical and cost annexes, and/or facilitation of internal approval practices.) Work to demonstrate a basic understanding of the proposal process and the ability to identify and respond to donor requirements.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience: 1 year of professional work experience, preferably in the environmental sustainability space Language: English professional-level oral and written fluency required. Required Travel: Up to 10% travel, domestic and internationally. Position-Specific Skills: Strong attention to detail, with a demonstrated track record of efficient, timely, and accurate delivery of work products Excellent organizational and coordination skills, including ability to complete, coordinate, and track a variety of tasks, balance competing demands, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure Willingness to learn and commitment to pursuing a career in climate and/or environmental sustainability international development Strong writing, verbal, intercultural, and interpersonal communications skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Experience working and/or living in developing countries strongly preferred Ability to adhere to Winrock’s organizational values and code of conduct at all times Practical knowledge of USAID is helpful but not necessary, given the Net Zero Climate Services Teams focus on corporate and non-profit clients. Working Environment: Standard U.S.-based office work environment. Sponsorship is not available for this position, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. The salary range for this position is between $63,000 and $72,000 with an additional 10% contribution to your 403b most candidates fall within the middle of the range.
