Our employment opportunity of the moment: Senior Program Officer

Program: Sustainable and Inclusive Economies (SIE)

Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Hybrid Mode*)

You have:

  • Ph.D. or a Master’s degree in a discipline such as economics, international development, gender studies.
  • English advanced reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • Significant and recent research management experience, including assessment of conceptual, methodological,
  • operational, and financial reports which utilize a gendered lens.
  • An in-depth understanding of on-going gender transformative development research in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
  • An enhanced knowledge of key partners and initiatives to foster gender-responsive policy making in the region, including initiatives to address unpaid care work.

You are:

  • An experienced research professional with demonstrated project and program management skills, including solid understanding of approaches to scaling positive impact.
  • A team player who thrives within a research-based environment that requires dedicated relationship building and openness to working with researchers, practitioners, and other key stakeholders from diverse cultures.
  • Driven by your contribution and positive impact as it relates to the advancement of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
  • An effective communicator, with proven ability to lead consultations and build consensus with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work under pressure using your initiative and sound judgment.

You are interested in:

  • Program coordination, the management of a portfolio of grant projects and collaboration with SIE team members in Ottawa and regional offices.
  • Performing strategic activities including coordination with key actors that seek to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
  • Ensuring the alignment and connectivity of program objectives with widespread organizational strategies.
  • Supporting action research that informs policy and practice on unpaid care work facilitating thoughtful knowledge exchange with both local and regional actors.
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Additional Information:

*Hybrid Mode: Have the flexibility to work in hybrid mode (3 days out of 10 in the office).

This position requires frequent international travel.
