Our employment opportunity of the moment: Senior Program Specialist

Location: Dakar, Senegal (Hybrid Mode*)

You have:

  • A Ph.D. relevant to global health with 8 years of relevant experience or a Master’ degree relevant to global health with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Significant and relevant experience in research management, implementation, funding, or support in global health in low and middle-income countries.
  • Proficiency in French and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Recent experience in driving research project initiatives within low-middle income countries, specifically within the African context.
  • An in-depth understanding of global health program and project development processes including direct experience with competitive calls for proposal.
  • An enhanced knowledge of West and Central Africa regional perspectives and actors central to on-going global health initiatives.

  • Managing a portfolio of projects with a large degree of independence and discretion in compliance with IDRC policies.
  • Utilizing previous knowledge and research to expand IDRC’s global footprint and positive impact within the global south.
  • Providing technical guidance to both internal staff, as well as external grantees through frequent collaboration.
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.

* Hybrid Mode: Have the flexibility to work in hybrid mode (minimum 3 days out of 10 in the office).

This position requires occasional international travel.
