WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for a Senior Programme Officer – Climate and NbS position to be based in Yangon, Myanmar.

 

Major Function

The Senior Program Officer will support the of the program on the organization’s work on Nature based Solutions, climate resilience and sustainable development. The officer will engage with partners (local authorities; local communities; private sector; Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and other international organizations) to increase climate resilience of Myanmar’s pristine ecosystems and communities thriving in and around them.

 

Major Responsibilities

Project Development and Implementation

·   Coordinate theactivities within WWF-MM’s strategic vision witha particular emphasis on NbS for Climate Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction

Regional Support to Mekong for Future Project

  • Support WWF’s Mekong for Future program’s regional strategy on climate adaptation and transboundary cooperation for strengthen CSO engagement in developmental planning.

Policy and Advocacy, Partnership Development and Networking

·   Liaise with local and international partners to develop technical and policy reports to support the NbS and climate resilience vision of WWF-Myanmar.

 

This JD covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that are anticipated proactively from staff. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary according to organization needs.

Requirements

●        A post graduate degree in environmental management, climate change, disaster risk reduction, natural resources management, environmental science, global policy, or social sciences.

●        With 5years of multidisciplinary work experience in climate change adaptation, climate policy, conservation with human-centred approaches, etc.

●        Highly motivated to learn and develop new skills.

●        Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs and bring your own ideas and your excellent interpersonal skills.

●        Work harmoniously as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

●        Excellent oral and written communication in both English and Myanmar.
