You have:

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline (such as: communications, journalism, public relations, political science) or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience in communications.
  • Proficiency in French and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Recent and substantive experience in communications, traditional and social media relations, as well as project management. Experience collaborating and coordinating with an organization’s satellite, regional, or international office is an asset.
  • A sound understanding of Canada’s development agenda, and IDRC’s activities.
  • An excellent knowledge of social media practices.

You are:

  • A skilled communicator with great interpersonal, oral, and public speaking communications and professional writing skills.
  • A strategic thinker and great planner using diplomacy, tact and courtesy when dealing with media and Centre representatives.
  • Excellent in Public Affairs and providing information to target audiences, including generating interest of media outlets.
  • Skilled at performing research-related tasks, working under pressure and using your initiative and sound judgment.
  • A team player within a multidisciplinary group of people from diverse cultures
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.

You are interested in:

  • Developing and implementing media strategies through various platforms including traditional and social media to amplify and enhance awareness of the work carried out by IDRC.
  • Monitoring, overall media engagement and acting as the primary contact for all media inquiries and, when required, as primary spokesperson for IDRC.
  • Building, strengthening, and expanding relationships with key national and international media contacts.
  • Contributing to raise awareness and providing information on IDRC’S contributions to international development and to Canada’s foreign policy and international assistance priorities.
  • Contributing to knowledge sharing and corporate communication planning, and the implementation of IDRC’s communications strategy.
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.

* Hybrid Mode: Have the flexibility to work in hybrid mode (Minimum 3 days out of 10 in the office).
