Senior Research Assistant (Adv#203/2023)

Environmental Health and WASH Research Group under the Health Systems and Population Studies Division has focused on determining and mitigating environmental contaminants, evaluating WASH strategies for improved health, and generating evidence to understand the extent of environmental pollution and contamination in low-resource settings.
Position Description:
The Senior Research Assistant will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible to perform data collection and data management activities, organize and manage field activities as well as aid the supervisor in conducting other relevant activities according to the study objectives within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. S/he will also be involved in –
- Understand study protocol and familiarize with the data collection techniques under the guidance of the supervisor;
- Develop activity plans under the guidance of a supervisor and communicate the plans with other team members;
- Collect qualitative or quantitative data using methods such as in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, structured interviews or any other applicable methods;
- Transcribe the collected qualitative data and carefully review the transcripts to identify any gaps in the data and ensure consistency with the recorded interviews;
- Share initial findings with supervisor and seek inputs
- Contribute to analysis by conducting coding of the transcribed data
- Support the research team in organizing different stakeholder meetings and relevant workshops;
- Keep track of data collection at the field level.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Master in Anthropology/Public Health/Environmental Science with good academic records;
- 1 year of relevant experience in public health research.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk.35,868/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
