Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of death worldwide. Nearly 43% of the population in Bangladesh is in the age group of 6 months to 19 years are exposed to at least one NCD risk factor. Early diagnosis of NCDs in children could help health managers control the increasing burden of these diseases in adults. In this study, a comprehensive and scalable pediatric NCD service delivery model will be developed at primary health care systems in two districts (Kishoreganj and Bagerhat) of the Dhaka and Khulna divisions in Bangladesh, in collaboration with NCDC, DGHS, pediatric NCD experts and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Research Assistant will report to Medical Officer and will plan, organize and implement qualitative research, IDI, FGD; coordination with community health care provider, health workers at the community clinic level, work at the Upazila health complex, data collection, analyze and manage data, community mobilization with the objective of conducting high-quality research.
He/ she will be responsible for:
- Implementing qualitative research to collect and analyze data from stakeholders at various levels, including government and non-government organizations, health facilities, policymakers, and disease domain experts;
- Transcription of interviews, analysis and writing results;
- Validate documents and reports for data accuracy and adherence to protocol guidelines;
- Prepare draft report for submission to supervisor; Revise final report based on feedback received from supervisor;
- Mobilization of community to the catchment area of the selected study sites;
- Communicate with the supervisor for solving problems/questions related to data collection and any issues related to field implementation;
- Maintain liaison with allied GoB, NGO and community representative in order to support research by uncovering evidence;
- Arrange logistics for field visit and periodic check of logistic stock;
- Share experience and learning within the team in order to improve the productivity of the team.
Required qualification and experience:
- Masters in Social science, preferably Anthropology/ Sociology;
- 3 years of experience in relevant field including health data collection, qualitative interview, data analysis, report writing and community mobilization.

Contract Type and duration:
- CSA basis for Three months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk 45,593/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b.
