icddr,b is an international health research institute based in Bangladesh. It strives to solve important public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation.

The Maternal and Child Health division of icddr,b offers a fellowship programme (Senior Research Fellow) for individuals who are interested in developing a career in public health research and currently in the formative stage.

The Senior Research Fellow will work under direct supervision of eminent public health researchers and receive hands-on training, exposure, experience at icddr,b. The fellowship programme is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and performance of the individuals to become an independent researcher at icddr,b.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Fellow will be reporting to the PI or delegate. The fellow is expected to contribute in evidence synthesis under the guidance of the PI. Some of the specific responsibilities may include (assist the PI in):

• Develop search strategies for systematic reviews;
• Execute search strategies for systematic reviews in international databases;
• Perform screening and data extraction from published articles;
• Conduct narrative synthesis and meta-analysis;
• Write technical reports and briefs;
• Develop manuscripts.

Required qualification and experience:

Young, bright individuals who meet the following criteria and are aspiring to develop their career as public health researchers at icddr,b are encouraged to apply.

• Master’s degree in relevant discipline (such as Public Health/Social Science/Population Science/Statistics/Applied Statistics/Biostatistics/Epidemiology/Nutrition/ Development Studies/ Bioinformatics/ Information Technology/ Health Economics) or MBBS from reputed institute; Outstanding academic results (at least 3.5 out of 4 scale from reputed universities enlisted by University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC)).
• Strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English;
• Must have strong critical thinking skills, ability to identify substantive problems and creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently;
• Two year of relevant experience. However, the length of experience may be relaxed for exceptional candidates.

Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

• Duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk 61,500/- monthly stipend (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• The progress of the Senior Research Fellows will be monitored and evaluated. On successful completion of training and final evaluation, the Fellow will be awarded certificates;
• Income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
