Microbiota directed complementary food (MDCF) research group under the Nutrition Research Division focuses on developing novel food formulation that promotes good nutrition by repairing the gut microbiota of children with malnutrition living in Bangladesh as well as in other geographical areas of the world.

Duties and responsibilities:

The Senior Research Investigator will be based in Dhaka and will report to the Principal Investigator. His/her role includes planning and implementing research projects, supervising research teams, ensuring high-quality data collection and ethical standards, organizing training for research teams on standard operating procedures. S/he will be involved in –

• Contribute to novel food intervention development and standardization;
• Research Proposal Development;
• Facilitate IRB approvals for different research projects;
• Create detailed project plans covering milestones, deliverables etc.;
• Project Management;
• Maintain constant communication with all the stakeholders including researchers, manufacturers, shippers, labs, concerned UN agencies etc.
• Scientific Analysis, Knowledge Creation and Translation;
• Scientific Capacity Building;
• People Management.

Required qualification and experience:

• MBBS from a reputed medical college;
• 8 years of experience with at least 3 years in nutrition research. However, preferences will be given to candidates with experience in novel food intervention development, standardization, and quality assurance.

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and duration:

• Fixed term basis for 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual Tk. 17,98,450/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances and other admissible benefits;
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
