Programme for Emerging Infection under Infectious Diseases Division is conducting a study on producing data to determine the causes of death of children more accurately. The findings will be shared with families, communities, healthcare providers and local and national public health institutes to develop policies and actions.

Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Research Officer report to Senior Research Investigator and will be mainly responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Assist in designing new research and survey implementation plan.
• Prepare questionnaire for survey, develop training module and provide training to field staffs.
• Monitor and evaluate field data collection and provide feedbacks to field staffs.
• Supervise GPS data collection, manage GIS datasets and conduct spatial analysis using ArcMap or QGIS.
• Develop data collection tools using ODK Collect or Kobo Collect.
• Create data monitoring dashboard using Tableau or Microsoft PowerBI.
• Check data inconsistency among the study variables and share necessary requires.
• Conduct basic statistical analysis using STATA, SPSS or R and develop and assist in preparing scientific manuscripts and reports.
• Prepare reports and share findings with the supervisor in order to execute activities in accordance with the research protocol.
• Maintain professional relationships and develop a good rapport with the other project components.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure quality implementation and contribution to the project and the organization.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters degree in Geography/Statistics/Social Science/Public Health;
• At least 5 years of experience in relevant field;
• Experience in statistical programming languages, such as STATA, R
• Good understanding of GIS data and GIS software (ArcMap/QGIS)
• Experience in Microsoft PowerBI is proffered

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fixed Term Agreement; duration will be 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Annual Tk.9,09,360/-inclusive of house rent, conveyance allowance, and other admissible benefits;
• 8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
