Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of death worldwide. Nearly 43% of the population in Bangladesh is in the age group of 6 months to 19 years are exposed to at least one NCD risk factor. Early diagnosis of NCDs in children could help health managers to control the increasing burden of these diseases in adults. In this study, a comprehensive and scalable pediatric NCD service delivery model will be developed at primary health care systems in two districts of the Dhaka and Khulna Divisions in Bangladesh, in collaboration with NCDC, UNICEF, Pediatric NCD experts, and other stakeholders.
Position Descriptions:
The Senior Research Officer will report to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and participating in specific activities of monitoring field site activities in two districts (Bagerhat and Kishoreganj) of Dhaka and Khulna Division. Also, Plan, organised, and implement field research assay with the objective of conducting high-quality laboratory research within the guidelines of the research protocols; and organizational values and guidelines (such as Institutional Governance Framework – IGF and Gender Diversity Guidelines). He/ she will be responsible to:
- Liaison with government health facilities, private facilities, NGOs, and government partners;
- Visit field sites for implementation, supervision, and troubleshooting of field issues required;
- Conduct specific research activities, and monitor tasks done by team members; Train new team members for research activities (data collection, transcribe, and analysis), especially on research;
- Develop new Monitoring and Evaluation tools plan for field sites and field visits;
- Conduct data analysis and prepare tables, graphs, etc. based on guidance from Senior Research Investigators/PIs and discussions with other team members;
- Support research team and PIs in preparing documents related to treatment guidelines, SOPs, and training modules;
- Visit the field for supervision and troubleshooting field problems if required;
- Supervise, monitor, and track receipt from clinical & field sites with appropriate documents; troubleshooting and resolve issues related to technical problems;
- Develop a cost tracker for monitoring and tracking the service delivery model;
- Share reports and specific case studies with Senior research investigator and Principal Investigator (qualitative and quantitative) and to apply participative monitoring techniques in execution activities;
- Work with the Principal Investigators in developing concept notes and writing protocols;
- literature review and draft manuscripts under the advice of Investigators/PIs to develop one’s ability in scientific writing;
- Read latest literature regarding tests and procedures; Review and update quality assurance manual;
- Train other staff on quality processes;
- Check adherence to quality assurance processes from collection to reception by the field sites to monitor adherence to quality guidelines in field implementation processes and results;
- Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organisation;
- Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any personnel-related issues; Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities;
- Report to PI about team members’ poor performance to improve team members’ performance.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Master’s Degree in relevant discipline with good academic result;
- At least 5 years of working experience in public health research;

Contract Type and Duration:
- CSA basis for 6 (six) months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 75,780/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
