About the position
The Alliance’s Multifunctional Landscape Research Lever is seeking to hire a Senior Scientist who can work on a wide range of topics, mainly on systems analysis and evidence synthesis with interdisciplinary skills. This role will involve designing, implementing, and contributing to activities related to agricultural inputs optimization (such as fertilizer, irrigation, and mechanization), soil and water management, and large-scale data analytics for various projects across Africa and beyond. The candidate should be able to design and implement agronomy, soil and water-related projects, and should be strong in partnership engagement at different levels national, regional, and local scales. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing projects from conception and design through to implementation, monitoring, and impact measuring, with the objective of deploying scalable solutions. The candidate is expected to play pivotal roles in building and sustaining partnerships and raising bilateral funds. The ideal candidate will also be able to carry out and supervise the piloting and validations of various decision support tools. In addition, the scientist will oversee the work of junior staff members. Overall, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate who can contribute to our mission of deploying innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture and landscape management.
Main responsibilities
Terms of employment
This is an international recruited position, and will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The initial contract will be for up to two (2) years, subject to a probation period of six (6) months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources. This position is graded at a level BG11 in a scale of 14 levels, BG14 being the highest level.
