Based in Kester, Belgium, you will join the NATO Integrated Mobile Service Centre (NIMSC). NIMCS provides NATO and its Partners 24/7 with scalable, protected, secure, reliable, and integrated Wireless Communication-based Services with a focus on NATO Operations, Crisis Response, Missions, Exercises and Business Continuity.
The SATCOM Services Branch is accountable and responsible to the customer for planning and executing all lifecycle management activities for the SATCOM Elements within the Network services and IT Infrastructure services in the assigned C3 technical service areas.
The Satellite Anchor Component (SAC) S01 is responsible for providing strategic communication capabilities to deployed assets in theatre to the Operational, Static and Exercise communities, through a multi-headed SAC.

About you
We are looking for a talented and knowledgeable SATCOM Technician (Electronics Maintenance) with ideally a Vocational training at a higher level in a relevant discipline or, a combination of equivalent qualifications with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
In addition to at least 5 years’ relevant experience, you will need to prove:
· Extensive experience in the operation or maintenance of satellite ground terminals/stations, or related systems such as radars or Line-Of-Sight;
· Relevant experience of:
o Antenna sub-system including; radome, feed horn, reflector, pedestal, waveguides, tracking receiver, servo and drive equipment, including fault diagnosis and repair;
o Transmit and receive chains, including; up and down converters, Low Noise Amplifiers and High Power Amplifiers;
o MODEMs, cryptographic equipment, routers and switches;
o Computer-assisted Monitor and Control System (M&CS) for system supervision;
o GPS-disciplined Frequency Reference Standards and associated distribution systems;
o Fibre Optical cables and other tails systems;
o In-depth knowledge of digital techniques;
o Desirable TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices;
o Testing and maintenance of modern communications systems;
· Proven ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and diplomacy, with good briefing skills.
Knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential.
