The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO), Platforms & Services Department (P&S), Infrastructure Services Division (IS), UC & Windows Client Services Unit (UCWS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Unified Communication Systems Engineer*. This is a full time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Operating Network

The UC & Windows Client Services Unit is responsible for Unified Communication and Windows Client platforms.

You will report directly to the Head of UC & Windows Client Services Unit, as well as collaborate closely with colleagues from across the EIB Group, external consultants and suppliers.

Accountabilities

  • You will showcase your in-depth Unified Communications technology market knowledge, by researching and evaluating inventive new options, approaches and technologies so to deliver the best solution available;
  • You will promote innovation whilst leading the technology roadmap, as well as designing and implementing high quality and secure unified communication solutions;
  • You will maintain our unified communication services up-to-date to the current market trends, whilst overseeing lab tests, proof-of-concept and other technical evaluations;
  • Thanks to your strong communication and project management skills, you will coordinate a team of consultants, as well as managing challenging project implementations and transitions to operational services;
  • You will ensure that all projects and solutions are both designed and implemented according to internal standards and procedures, as well as respecting best practices, security recommendations and industry standards;
  • You will also be responsible for addressing critical incidents in your area of expertise, so to restore services according to the enforced service level agreements;
  • You will have the opportunity to use your innovative approach and technology expertise combined to promote and implement automation, aiming for efficiency gains and continuous improvement;
  • Whilst liaising with external suppliers, you will also provide technical input for call for tenders in the scope of unified communication technologies (VoIP, telephony, videoconferencing, Microsoft Teams);

Qualifications

  • University degree preferably in computer science or related disciplines;
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the Unified Communications areas;
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of Unified Communications market trends and development, as well as a strong desire to promote and implement technological innovation;
  • Solid experience in delivering efficient and ingenious Unified Communications projects and transformation programs, including new technologies rollout and enterprise wide infrastructures;
  • Extensive technological expertise in at least one the following technologies: VoIP, video and audio conferencing (Cisco CMS, Webex), Microsoft Teams, AudioCodes, IP Trade, NICE Recording;
  • Strong technical knowledge in IT, particularly with: VoIP technologies (SIP, SBC, Call manager), Microsoft O365, Teams. Good knowledge of Azure Active Directory, ADFS or IT security would be considered an advantage;
  • Experience in designing and/or troubleshooting infrastructure issues;
  • Passionate about your work, new technology and most importantly, you will also be eager to provide your contribution to EIB’s vision, supporting its implementation with your strong technical skillset and excellent project management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills and a good command of French (*). Knowledge of another EU language would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
