The EIB, the European Union’s bank is seeking to recruit for its Group Corporate Services Directorate – Group Digital Office (GCS-GDO) – Platforms & Services Department (P&S) – Infrastructure Services Division (IS) – UC & Windows Client Services Unit (UCWS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Windows Engineer*.

*Internally referred to as: (Senior) Engineer IT Technology & Infrastructure

This is a full time position at grade 5/6 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract.

Panel interviews are expected in May.

Purpose

You will manage the technology roadmap, design and deliver projects with the Windows Client environment: Windows Client Operating Systems, Apple iOS, Microsoft 365, Central Device Management: SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, Mobile Iron, Software packaging and distribution, including updates and upgrades, Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy Objects, hardening, whitelisting and Data Leakage Protection systems.

Operating Network

You will closely cooperate with colleagues from the Group Digital Office, as well as with colleagues in other Directorates. You will report directly to the Head of Unit.

  • Lead technology roadmap, design and implementation for windows client services covering Windows Client Operating Systems, Apple iOS, Microsoft 365, Central Device Management: SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, Mobile Iron, Software packaging and distribution, including updates and upgrades, Group Policy Objects, hardening, whitelisting and Data Leakage Protection systems
  • Manage and guide project teams (consultants) for the implementation of projects for windows client services in a Times and Means delivery model.
  • Prepare architecture, design, technical and implementation documentation, oversee lab tests, proofs-of-concept and other technical evaluations in order to keep EIB end users and Windows client and iOS technologies / services up to date with new market and technological trends.
  • Develop, maintain and apply an in-depth subject matter expertise in windows client services, especially in Microsoft 365.
  • Provide specialised advice (lead as subject matter expert) and act as a change owner focusing on customer satisfaction in order to introduce different approaches within the Bank’s IT solutions
  • Ensure that projects are managed and that solutions are designed and implemented in line with internal standards and procedures and that best practice, security recommendations and industry standards are respected
  • Work closely with development, engineering, support, infrastructure, and business operations teams to drive resolution of issues and the design of solutions

Qualifications

  • University degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with proven track record in managing Microsoft technologies like Windows Client Operating Systems, Microsoft 365, Central Device Management: SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune, Mobile Iron, Software packaging and distribution, including updates and upgrades, Group Policy Objects, hardening
  • Experience with Active Directory / Azure AD configuration, Exchange Services online / on-premise, File Services is mandatory
  • Hands-on experience in Windows Server administration with enterprise level skills in Wintel physical and virtual environments
  • Experience with scripting and automation is a must. Powershell knowledge would be preferred
  • Strong Security Practitioner – day to day operation and architecture / design
  • Microsoft certifications in the related technologies are an asset
  • Ability to coordinate and lead teams, ideally in multicultural environment
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(*) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
